Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Our tech team tells us it's to stop an overload of searches and it happens when you're on an IP address with other people, so in an office or using your phone. The delay happens when users on the same IP search at the same time.
Hope that helps to clear things up. We'll take this feedback on board
Thanks for the update, but as above, only one PC being used in the house and it still does it. The only way this could stack up is if there is a switch somewhere on the MSE server which introduces a delay if the server is receiving too many searches from all servers.0 -

Ditto. I am only ever on the home pc and home alone.
I might have multiple MSE tabs open, but you didn't say that, and MSE team explanation doesn't explain why it would happen on the first search.0 -
Hi, this seems to be happening to me all the time too and I'm the only one in the house using the internet. Is there any further developments on this? Thanks!0

They've just told you what is supposed to happen ie. the system logs IP address when you search, and blocks other searches from that IP address for 15 seconds.
It is not working that way. It is happening to large numbers of people with unique IP addresses on home broadband.
It only ever happens with the "quick" search box and NEVER with "advanced" search.
The team needs to look at the difference in the programming between the two.
There might also be a clue to the problem if they look into the "wait 16 seconds" (and once even 17 seconds) which should not be possible when the parameter is set at 15 seconds.
The false "no results" has not been addressed.0 -
Still happening. I opened the page, set up the search parameter, and waited a good minute before pressing the go button to search. WAIT 12 seconds.
Is it checking only the first x digits of the ip address perhaps, and not the full ip ?0 -
Still happening. Still no action.
