Spare sim card with same number
I have just bought a Volvo S60 with a phone system installed on where you put your sim in a slot in the dash.
I dont want to remove my card evertime i get in the car so all i want is a duplicate sim on the same number that i can leave in the dash slot.
Do you know if you can get such a thing

AFAIK, only the vodafone network does this option. £5 per month last I heard.0

most if not all networks work on a one ssn (sim number) per mobile number system so it would be rare to find this availablethings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

Thanks for the replys. Its a shame i cant get a duplicate sim.It looks like i'll get a PAYG sim and then divert all calls to the car before i start to drive.Bit of a potch to do but it seems its the only option at the moment.
Cheers0 -
It is possible to duplicate a sim yourself you need to buy a sim card read/writer, a blank sim card and download some software off the net. ucables.com will have most of the equipment and if you google "sim cloning" it should come up with some more info. Hope this helps.0

Hi Andru
Working for Vodafone, I know we do offer a product called Multi SIM. There's nothing on our website about it, but the overview is you can have one number routed to several SIM cards (one in your phone, another in your car for example). You activate which ever SIM you want to use by the use of handset commands (*#10# for example).
The downside of it is that the multi SIM tariffs have no GPRS facility, so you would lose the use of MMS, GPRS etc.
If you want more information on it, any Vodafone Store would be able to help, or you could call our new connections team.0 -
From reading what you have described, IMHO this is not a good design by Volvo and I would avoid subjecting my mobile’s operation to their in-car modus operandi.
Most modern mobile phones comes with built-in Bluetooth and some of them are intelligent enough to sense its own current zone, so that you don’t even have to manually switch phone’s Bluetooth function while entering the car.
If the whole idea is hands free operation, why do you need an auxiliary sim to enable that?
A system that asks customers to insert sim to pick up calls hands free... this doesn’t make life easier at all and it sounds a bit stupid too, unless I'm missing the whole point.I have just bought a Volvo S60 with a phone system installed on where you put your sim in a slot in the dash.

Think the S60 has the additional security features, where if the airbags are deployed then it can alert the emergency services using the sim card, alternatively there is an sos button to alert manuallySLC: £13000+
