    Morning all.
Back to school / preschool for the boys this morning which means back up into the office for me.

Quite excited (sad I know!) that my favourite local butcher (has been in the town for generations and is family run) has started doing weekly family meat boxes, 25.00 for well over 30.00 worth of meat and they are delivering free if you don't want to go down to the butcher and collect. My first is coming this afternoon and as I know the quality and how generous they are I'm really looking forward to it!

The Weekly Family Meat Pack..500g mince,500g Stewing Steak,500g sausages, 500g diced pork,500g back bacon,4 burgers and 800g to 900g joint of slow cooker beef or pork joint.
All this for £25. They will likely be more than the stated weight for each item too as there always is.

I need to get out more really if this is the highlight of my day :)

I am trying to review what I spend money on throughout the year and stock up on bulk deals. Thank you for the Card Factory tip - will definitely be stocking up on cards. Does anyone have any tips on how to buy shampoo cheaply? I really struggle to find a cheap shampoo that my hair likes and always end up buying the 3 for 10/12 deals which seem pretty pricey! Just to add to the hair dye conversation, I use henna which I would recommend a frugal as long as you're a fan of red hair :)

Have a look on the Superdrug website. They often have nice shampoo and conditioner at less than half price, I've just had a biggish delivery of Dove stuff (free delivery over ten pounds so I only order when my Mum / sister all want to so we all benefit). Worth a look and they have a Beauty Card which accrues points you can use to knock off future orders. Hope that helps.

    morning all,

re- shampoo, we normally buy the cheap supermarket anti-dandruff shampoo, normally around the £1 mark, but now and again I will buy a nice big bottle of shampoo if its on a very special offer, so thanks for the heads up with superdrug, as I don't normally go there..

I need fuel for the car, so I am hoping that A$DA have reduced it down again today..

booked some stuff into the general auction so need to take that down to them a week on Friday..

right better get ready for another crap day at work..

I have noticed since the new year Asda have got very ltd selection of meat, no beef joints etc...

My Asda order arrived last night without the beef joints and I refused the substitution as it was same price but almost one third the weight ordered. Their pork at about £2 per kilo, however, is a great buy, so I was really pleased with that and the exceptionally cheap milk!

Shampoo... 20p per bottle and infuse it with either rosemary, lavender or sweet gale. Does me just fine. :)

I am doing my £1 per person per day for all meals again this year, so every penny needs to be accounted for at all times. The plus side is that we eat in a healthy manner while affording to save, hopefully, £1 a day extra into the fun funds. :D
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Hi everyone,

I have been lurking on the 2014 thread for a few months, but would like to join the 2015 thread.

I haven't set a yearly budget, but monthly ones, with a personal challenge to beat them and send any of the savings over to our mortgage.

6 days into this year, I am struggling with other peoples view of my money - examples of this are 'I have seen a lovely bookcase you should by for DD and paint' I have removed the other one as it would likely give me away, but it involved me spending £10 on a relative of someone a family member has been goin out with for 1 month.

Do any of you come up against this? Do you have any tips to deal with this (bearing in mind that my money burning family already call me cheap).

If you want to, you can take pics and put them up on here, and I can give you my honest opinion on them.. whether they are worth selling individually, or bulk to someone.

Yes tell them you would rather be tight and financially comfortable than poor and a scattercash.

I would personally say 'wise, tight and financially comfortable' than 'stupid, poor and a scattercash.' But this may touch on the side of rude... however if someone is commenting on your money, I think that's very rude and they are asking for all the get. ;)

Just say "sorry, don't waste your money in future, I wasn't planning on buying the child anything so please return it"
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
