Frugally wise I have done well so far this year. This is due to having a cold so not having much energy to do anything else apart from working. We are thinking of moving this year so have not bothered to stock up on Christmas cards, wrapping paper etc. The freezer is full so not buying much food either.

My challenge for January is to finally choose my new current account provider. I am finding it hard to make a decision between getting £100 for free and then hopefully £5 every month or to go for account that pays interest on money in your account.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Blimey, just changed car insurer. Current provider sent this years quote which was £400 more expensive than the online comparison, plus am getting £25 back with TCB so from Feb I will be £24 better off

  • Just had to take hubby's suit to dry cleaner as he need's it for next week, £9.50!!!

I was astonished, surely there is a more frugal way of cleaning dryclean suits that I don't yet know about?

Thankfully he doesn't wear them that often :)
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)

  • Well done everyone!

I have done well for week one - my weeks go friday-thursday. I spent only £14.40 on food and £20 from my treat budget on a meal out with friends.

My campervan is in the garage today though which will test my van budget but it needs doing.

I kept to my food budget and should be ok next week too with minimal spends (milk, potatoes, salad).

I have put christmas stuff away but not started the de-clutter bug yet.... next week.
Debt Free. Have my Van. :) Find dream

  • AWW You all sound so positive. I have a few more bits to buy some foam rollers, setting lotion and a shower cap..(later this year capri pants and somecork wedges..I have like one pair of cheap flip flops) And thats me done for another year I recon about £80 max? I normally spend about £20 but all on basic clothes..then I realised all my clothes where basic shapeless and frumpy looking now. So I hit The charity shops. All the children are sorted but will need some new shoes at some point in the year (I tend to buy them in the sales a size bigger ) And they get loads of hand me downs

This year we are doing christmas the simple way .. I will make them a jumper each a hat each and a toy/gift each. Then its something they need, something they want (always get this secondhand its usually a new wii game or skylander) and something to use up. (shower gels or bath stuff) I enter comps too so will be some winning gifts in there too.

Still havent written budgets out. Middle son doesn't want to do Karate after all so thats £16 a month saved towards our trips and camping.

Ok I have a challenge. We eat out maybe twice a month at a (insert junk food shop) Sometimes at a nice pub resturant..this is usually down to going into town and thinking ooh we need to have lunch /tea whatever. How do I avoid this. I know I could pack lunch/picnics but how can I do it in winter when there is no warm/dry place to eat ..Ideas..this would save about £35 a month easily.
Oh and have cut right back on drink saving about £15 a week.

Humm think thats it ..oh need to look at the box of beanie babys as I know some are rare..if I get £100 Id be happy!

Anyway thats all for now, have a great day all x

Just shaved another £12.25 a month off by cancelling the multi room & 1571 service with sky. In may I will be taking our £5 a month phone package off. I still need the line rental but we don't actually use the phone as we have good mobile packages now.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Wrote up my shopping list for the weekend last night, even totalled it up so I stick to the £41 I have left in the bank. Hubby is still debating whether he wants me to buy a bottle of wine for the weekend or bacon from the butchers :rotfl:
I did say that I could always put the supermarket part of the shopping on the CC and he could have both then but he said no. :jHe's actually on board with sticking to a budget at last :T

I'm going to join in with this as i really need to be thrifty this year. I havent set my budget yet but will post it over the weekend.

We need to cut back on food waste and also have a big declutter which i'm hoping to start with this weekend......
