Emergency Fund: £350/£10000 -
I cant see why it wouldn't be allowed, you are not selling anything etc, and it is a useful page, for ideas and suggestions etc.. I love the idea of the chocolate orange bread and butter pudding, has anyone done one??
In fact I haven't used my slow cooker in yonks, so the talking about it, and giving the heads up about it on FB, has kicked me up the butt to start using it again.
once I get into a routine of prepping everything the night before, I can plonk everything in it, before I go to work in the morning, and the main part of our tea will be done...
I used to do a minted lamb casserole in it, using minted lamb chops, and a tin of condensed veg soup....lovely...Work to live= not live to work0 -
hi all im ready and raring to go. my frugal living budget starts on a thursday each week. which actually worked out very handy as new years day is on a thursday :j
i did the unthinkable this week. i cut my own hair .. layers side fringe the worksand dyed it too. im not a qualified hairdresser but i have to say i am more than happy with it ... i normally put a dye through every now and then but it always goes patchy .. well this time it didnt :j and i take the ends off my hair when its getting desperate but thats as far as i ever did.
the hair dye was on offer for £5 and the salon that my mum (years ago) used to take me too would of charged her around £80 for what i did for the total cost of a fiver so im well chuffed. i would never spend that amount myself as like i said i used to take the ends off when it was desperate mysel for the last few years ... but now it has style to it :T
sorry that was abit of a rambling can you tell im proud
anyway i have shuffled all money about and got my budget ready on my lappy so im good to go .. good luck everyone(#80 save 12k in 2015) aim £10,000make £10 a day in 2015 £261/£4000emergency fund aim £100/£1000£1 a day for xmas 2015 £0/£365NSD feb 0/16feb GC £0/£1200 -

Question for anybody who can help (or point me in the right direction). I don't use garlic that often, but whenever I need to buy it from a supermarket I can rarely buy a single bulb but have to buy a pack of 3 or 4, so they go off before I use them. This is such a waste of food and money.
Any of ideas on how to prolong the life of the surplus bulbs? It would be much appreciated.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

As someone who doesn't have a standard cooker, I love my slow cooker. It gets used for anything that fits in it, including whole chicken. I simply season it, add an inch of water on the bottom, cook until done then skim off the grease, top crock pot up with water and cook the carcase down into stock, then souo.
My current food budget has been £1 per day for several years and it is entirely possible to cut far below this if needs must, [Text removed by Forum Team].
GOOD LUCK TO ALL FOR 2015 FRUGAL LIVING CHALLENGE
This will be year 8 of the challenge being posted on MSE and over those years, I have saved a phenomenal amount of money that could so easily have been wasted. It has now been 16 years since the first meals challenge and it is funny looking back on it. Back then, it was feed a family of 4 for £10 a week (main meal) and a tin of corned beef was about 45p, tinned tomatoes were 9p and cheap mince was less than £1 per kilo! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
