If I let stuff I've bought go past the BB date I'm pretty casual about it but I would expect anything I buy at a supermarket to be within that date. If it wasn't I'd take it back next time I went in.

The one I do find a bit odd is BB dates on spring water which is probably hundreds of years old - well billions if you are pedantic about it but hundreds since it started it's journey through the rocks that filter it.

Further checking showed the date 30/09/2014 on the bottom of the cans!
These were not reduced so I think they were offloading out of date stock at this festive time hoping no-one will check!
So check your seasonal produce dates carefully!

Probably an honest mistake, we took some long life milk back to Sainsburys last month that had gone off, when I checked the date, it was past the sell by date. When I took it back they replaced the pack of 6 cartons and also gave us a refund too (about £4.25 ish).
