So last week we bought some Hobgoblin beer for the festivities. On it was a competition but when I looked closely it ended over a year ago!
Further checking showed the date 30/09/2014 on the bottom of the cans!
These were not reduced so I think they were offloading out of date stock at this festive time hoping no-one will check!
So check your seasonal produce dates carefully!

Just the date? Or Sell By, Best Before or Use By? If none of these it may be the production date.0 -
In any case, beer in a sealed bottle doesn't go off does it? So just drink and be merry! Hobgoblin is an excellent pint!0

They were cans and the date is best before! The competition ended October 2013! So in my opinion they shouldn't be selling it or at least not at full price!0

Best before is nothing but a marketing angle.0

So take it back!?!?!?!?!?
They will probably also give you a gift voucher as recompense for your inconvenience, so you will be up on the deal.
Not so bad after all.0 -

Well I've never had a bottle of beer go off........ possibly because they don't sit in the cupboard long enough!0

My local off licence is regularly getting rid of old stock, currently I'm working thought 3 cases I bought for £5 each (24x500ml Tennets - not super) not got many left and not had any problems, BB is meaningless, the date on the bottom of mine is Nov 13!:beer:0

You can drink out of date beer it won't harm you but the taste will not be pleasant, it doesn't age well like a nice bottle of wine.0

Not sure when it comes to bottles but i can assure you that the cans im drinking which are nearly 13 month after the BB taste no different to the cans which are within the BB:beer:0
