Rock Law - Can I go back now?

  • Can I say a massive thank you to everyone in this thread. I googled 'Rock Law' as I was actually on the phone to them. I have to admit I almost fell for it as they come across as very professional and credible. As the sales woman, Sam Morgan, started to hint at charging the admin fee to my credit card, I was able to tell her I wanted nothing charging to me. She put the phone down straight away without a word. Speaks volumes! Thank you again everyone.

I've done something a bit stupid. Yesterday I fell for one of those PPI company pitches from Rock Law. I signed an online form and they have taken £500 from my credit card. Is there anything I can do to cancel and get my money back?

Was really grateful to read the suggested email to send to Rock Law as my husband was caught out this week. We sent the email off as suggested but it has bounced back saying it is undeliverable. I'm gutted!!!! Any idea how to obtain an email address that works please?

We have been dealing with a number of complaints regarding Rock Law Ltd, this CMC is no longer trading. If you have a complaint against Rock Law Ltd, we can now accept these and you do not need to contact Rock Law Ltd first.

You can find a complaint form available on our website http://www.legalombudsman.org.uk/cmc/#download-form or you can contact us on 0300 555 0333 and we can talk to you about possible options.

  • Alas I got stung by these crooks as well. They caught me at a very vulnerable stage and I agreed to start the procedure, despite me pointing out that my Lloyds Bank PPI was in fact 'Execution only' business (meaning I asked for it, they did not push it on me.) However came to my senses well within the 14 day cancellation period and tried to telephone and cancel. Could not get through to either Rock Law or ARB Advisory. So sent an email cancelling. However no reply was forth coming nor was the £495 refunded. I contacted the credit card company and they advised I need to leave it 30 days. However this morning I did some digging of my own and also finally got hold of ARB who advised me that Rock Law went into Administration (or Liquidation they were not sure which) on 16th October, just 4 days after they processed the charge of £495 from my credit card. Called the card company and they are now investigating and acting for me to get the money back. So anyone else who has paid these thieves money by credit card get on to your card company.
  • After waiting patiently for several months for the promised £££££,s to roll in I was getting rather suspicious when I found I could not access their site to check on progress. Have spoken to reps twice previously and the stated timeframe seemed to be going up. By chance I found this forum, thank goodness.
I also feel such a fool, but was lured in by the so called strength of my multiple claims and thought it would be much easier to pursue in bulk rather than doing it myself!!! Woe is me!!!!!
Following the previous advice I will chase up with credit card company but after nearly 6 months am not hopeful.
The question is: will I be able to pursue the claims myself after Rock Law has ( I hope) set the ball rolling?
Presumably, I will as a first step, need to contact the firms myself to establish current status.
Any comments, help etc . would be appreciated.

If you paid by a credit card, as opposed to a debit card, you should be able to use Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 to get your money back.

Alternatively, they may be able to use the chargeback facility to reverse the transaction. This can also be used with debit cards and is preferable in any event because it ensures the bank is not out of pocket. Regardless of whether it missold PPI, it is not responsible for the misdemeanours of Rock Law.
  • Hi,
I am feeling very foolish too, just looked online to find contact details for Rock Law as I hadn't heard from them in a while, and discovered that they are con merchants.

Has anyone had any luck getting their £495 back?

Are they even still going, I can't get through either by e-mail or phone?
Thanks for any info you have..

Those that paid by debit card may be able to make a charge back claim.
