"When did the Post Office last deliver to you?" Er, last week?

    Pretty impressive.
Post Office hasn't delivered letters in many years.
    Sure it wasnt the GPO?

Am I the only one who's ever had a good service from Yodel?

no your not I posted just before you saying I have had great service and always have done
have now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving
  • Having ordered a high value item (£200+) from Amazon at midnight on the 22nd of Dec I choose the offered option of delivery by Christmas eve using my Prime membership. Admittedly, I use this service often and usually have it sent to my local collect plus store and to date not had any major complaints....till now!
Not only did I not receive the item (Christmas present for my 13 year old) but on communicating with Amazon daily till now was told on C eve, C day and boxing day it would be delivered..."please be patient, your patience and custom is important to us, we understand your pain and disappointment"!!!..Really, do you? erm, clearly not. I did say to the operative who was based in India that there would be no delivery on Christmas day but was told to wait and see as it would be delivered....would it be by carrier pigeon?
I asked that a line manager be informed of my displeasure and contact be made to ascertain when my daughters present would arrive. Duly an e-mail was sent saying they (Amazon) had credited my account with a £10 gift voucher to be used with my next order...and a further £5 voucher on boxing day. Needless to say I declined both and asked for them to be removed as I had no intention of purchasing further. Fifteen quid could not compensate for the feeling of failure on not being able to provide my child with her main gift. Unreasonable ? maybe but just to add, collect plus told me that Yodel had been and delivered on Christmas Eve circa 11.00 am and as per their schedule will not return till next week....thank you Yodel....(the gift was dispatched midnight of the 23rd according to Amazon's e-mail)...
So, still no gift today and I have cancelled the order, asked for a refund (3 to 5 business days before funds received apparently) and gone and bought the item in Argos this morning (and no, it was not cheaper or in the sale).
The lesson gained from this tale is: do not order from Amazon (using prime) and expect delivery on designated day close to Xmas. Do not use Yodel and expect the same. Do give your child the option of money or buy from a local store.
Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for 2015.

why hasn't amazon logistics been included, they are really poor refuse even to deliver to neighbours
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I've never had to phone those ones so I can't comment. They've never not delivered an item when they said they would, never claimed to have delivered an item that they clearly had not and never lied and claimed that they tried to deliver when they clearly did not. Yodel have though, on more than one occasion for each infraction.

I didn't try ordering anything around 'Black Friday' or 'Cyber Monday'. Yodel's foul ups took place during "normal" times of the year.

And yet there are several companies that provide a better and more customer friendly level of service than Yodel. Yodel cut every single corner they can to offer the lowest rates so that more retailers will use their services. I understand why they're doing it but let's be honest, 7am to 9pm delivery slots are ridiculous. DPD, for one, can get the delivery time to a one-hour window and seem to be pretty good at hitting that window. When you wait in all day for a Yodel delivery and it still doesn't show up, I'm sorry, but that is extremely poor service.

But I have criticised other delivery companies before. Yodel are just the one that have let me down most often and most recently.

That maybe due to dpd all been franchise, and the drivers are fined £5 for every late parcel.

Have had more than one delivery from Yodel without any problem. Worst delivery company I have ever used by far was CITY LINK. Spent hours on many phone calls trying to sort out the last delivery, every phone call seemed to make the problem worse. The previous delivery from them was a very heavy item which was dumped on the driveway, I had not been informed they would be a one man delivery who would not bring into the house.

and who do you think chose the courier? Were you expecting City Link to make that call?

If I place an order I don't think I should need to enquire about their policy. The retailer should inform customers to enable them to make a decision whether to use such delivery companies.
People learn by their mistakes and if I have a choice I now use reputable retailers such as John Lewis.
There are many quality delivery companies out there and only the good ones will survive.

Yup. So the carrier is moot. It is the retailer who chooses to use a carrier who runs one man deliveries.
