What to do about non delivery from Bedworld?

Hi, my husband ordered a bed and mattress from Bedworld online with next day delivery on 2nd December.
The bed arrived on the 5th December, but we still do not have a mattress and its two weeks on.
We have attempted to call the company but all lines go to voicemail with no reply being made.
I have also emailed on several occasions many with no reply, but where there has been a reply it just states that delivery will be made, but no date to when this will happen.
I have checked their facebook page and this appears to be a common complaint about this company.
I have asked via email to be given information to wether the mattress will arrive with no reply and have also asked for a refund with no reply

I would welcome any advice with regard to what to do next please

Thanks in advance

How much was the bed and how did you pay? This affects the available options.
  • Hi it was about £750 for both items, and he paid by card online

    What sort of card?

If it's a credit card, then you have Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act on your side. If the retailer doesn't deliver, you can reclaim the money from the credit card provider.

If it's a Visa or Mastercard debit, then you could try the chargeback route through your bank. It's not a consumer right, but many banks will be helpful.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Thabk you for your help, I will check with my husband when he gets in and look into this. Thanks again
  • Hi, just to update you, the mattress has still not arrived, despite several emails and false promises if delivery from them. I have also discussed this company with citizens advice who have informed me that Bedworld are in breach of contract and possibly a criminal offence as well. They have also contacted Trading Standards on my behalf who I have forwarded all information to.

I have also noted on forums and reviews and even the Bedworld facebook page that there are many customers who have not received items they have paid for, or received damaged items and had difficulty getting refunds or contact with the company.

Thanks for the update, but none of that will get your goods or your money back.
What have you done about that?

Have you followed Ectophile's advice in post #4?
  • same issue here - seems like this miserable excuse for a company have been doing this for a number of years. I ordered a mattress 10 days ago and picked a delivery day. Waited in all day, at a large financial cost as I am self-employed. No delivery, no communication.

I started to realise how dodgy they are when I tried to contact them to enquire as to where my mattress was. They have a phone number with 4 options, all of whihc lead to "email customerservices@bedworld.net, email accounts@bedworld.net, email deliveries@bedworld.net" etc and no way to actually talk to a human being - can't afford actual staff I suppose.

I sent several emails to all of the above addresses - no response. I tweeted them - they blocked me. I found out the number behind their pathetic answer phone system and called them. A woman answered and gave me the most unbelievable twaddle I have ever heard, including putting the phone down and then coming back pretending to be someone else as they "passed you to my colleague".

She then, in her alter ego persona, pretended to check my delivery status. Apparently they had "left a card" - no, they havent, and I've been in from 07:00 to 00:00. Then she proceeded to ask me a series of questions to "prove" that they had tried to deliver after putting the phone down for about 45 secs "to talk to the delivery driver". "Do you live in a bungalow?" No, I don't. "Do you have a red door?" No. "Well they tried to deliver it to a house with a glass door" No, not got one of them either. "Well all I can do is re-arrange delivery for Monday.

Monday came and went, no mattress. I am afraid this is where my patience ran out and I have now submitted a claim for non-delivery of good with my credit card provider. They are sending out the paperwork for me to sign and, if it has not arrived by day 15 post-order, they will simply take my money from Bedworlds Bank Account and refund (funny how they never seem to have any trouble with the taking money part isn't it?)

I have ordered the same mattress, now £10 cheaper, from an actual online bed retailer.

Bedworld are a pathetic excuse for a company. Fair enough, delays happen, warehouses burndown etc. But to simply not be arsed to even contact your customers, who have already paid for goods and are waiting in for deliveries, and to have no way to speak to ayone to see what has happened is truly, truly pathetic in these days of online retailing and next day deliveries (I was happy with next week, but even that was beyond them).

I had the same problem. Ordered a bed and mattress on 14/12/2014. Was sent an email promising delivery in 2-3 weeks. Since then I have tried emailing and phoning them, without getting through to anyone. Last week I left them a voicemail giving them 24 hours to get in touch with me, or I was cancelling the transaction via my credit card company.

I still heard nothing so now Marks and Spencer (Mastercard) are sending me a form to sign so they can refund my money.

Wish I'd done my research about Bedworld before placing the order. I'm just grateful I paid by credit card and so can get my money back. I don't understand how they are still allowed to operate.
  • On another note, I just went onto the Bedworld Facebook page and saw a bunch of bad reviews. The only 3 good reviews were made by people who live in or near Huddersfield - home of Bedworld itself. That's a remarkable coincidence.....

Hi. I was looking on the internet for foam mattresses and came across Bedworld. I decided that I wanted a divan as well, to replace my ancient wooden slatted bed. They do a package with a divan and Memflex mattress that suited me. Then I remembered seeing somewhere that just because the package picture shows a headboard, it doesn't mean that it's included. So I added a suitable headboard to the order. Just before I paid, I thought that I'd better check the status of Bedworld online and, Oh Dear! So many reports of bad service and delays that I decided against it. I liked the mattress though, so I trawled the web looking for it. I was quite surprised when I came up with the Memflex site. Not only did they sell the mattress, they sold the very package and headboard that I was going to get from Bedworld. They also asked me which day I wanted delivery. So I ordered it and requested delivery on Monday 26/01/2015. At least I wasn't dealing with Bedworld. Or so I thought. When I looked at the invoice from Memflex it said to contact deliveries@bedworld.net for delivery queries and customercare@bedworld.net for other queries. The receipt from SAGE PAY says "Your order from BEDWORLD has been successful". and then goes on to talk about contacting Bedworld for any queries. So it looks like there's some sort of unholy alliance between Memflex and Bedworld. Since I'd paid (by Credit Card) I thought I'd just have to wait and see what happens. True to form, Monday came and went with no delivery and no notification of any kind. I thought that I'd give them another day, just in case. Still no goods. Today, Wednesday 27th, I've just emailed deliveries@bedworld.net, stating invoice details and asking what's happened to my delivery. I also said there was no "While you where out" card in my postbox. While I'm waiting, I think I'll look up Chargeback. Cheers, fellow sufferers. :(
