Capital One Scam

in Credit cards
Capital One Scam-we are probably not the only ones but since joining Capitol One for credit we had a first statement and paid on time. They swear blind the statements have been sent out but it seems strange both of us have not had them.
Since then neither of us have been getting statements, so the account goes into arrears. We phoned and set up a direct debit because both of us were unable to register online.
Please be aware if you do not get a statement, phone them and say you cant get online - they have given us a username and password now, it took seconds.
Tell them you wish to set up a direct debit for Minimum Payment.
If you have not had statements please let us know.

It's an unfortunate learning curve for a lot of people, that a DD for the minimum payment is a life-saver. If you want to overpay, you always can.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
How's this a scam exactly?
FWIW, I held CapOne credit cards of various kinds continuously between 2004-2013, never had an issue with any of them, always had online access and paper statements, though never paid by DD, always manually.
Regardless, it is always a good idea to have a DD set up for the minimum in any case!0 -
This isn't a scam.0

Credit card can be incredibly complicated, especially when you don't know the name of the company you're dealing with.0

You've chosen to remain customers of a company that scammed you?
Wow!0 -
Why didn't you set up online access when the account was opened?
Why didn't you set up a DD when the account was opened?
Why wasn't there alarm bells ringing when you hadn't received a statement for 7-8 weeks?...and 3-4 weeks had passed since you made your last payment to them?
How long have Royal Mail told you it'll take to look into your complaint?
Are any of your neighbours also experiencing problems with their post?0 -
We couldn't set up an online account as it would not let us. We could only get them on the phone during working hours. Also it seems very strange that they said on the phone they have definitely sent out the statements and lo and behold they both arrived today!!! coincidence? Don't think so, any direct debit has now been set up so they wont get anymore out of us.0
