Not a scam, simply the OP's misunderstanding of how CC's work.

I would go as far as to say that the vast majority of posts with "scam" in the title are not scams
  • The word 'scam' seems to get thrown round quite a lot, yet most times its just someone not understanding and pointing the finger rather than looking at themselves.

    garyandlynn,
some of the replies are a bit harsh, but the basics are that you need to understand how credit cards work..
i'm a fan of paper statements as i like to have a record of all transactions and payments, and would rather not print or store pdfs.
as soon as anyone i know opens a card account i suggest they set up a Direct Debit: minimum/set amount (above minimum)/full...whichever is right for them, but at least the minimum.
they then have to ensure that the statement states the Direct Debit will be taken. if not, a manual payment needs to be sent to ensure that they don't miss a payment.
used wisely, Credit Cards, including those from CapitalOne, can be really useful. but we all have to ensure that we don't make a mistake and finish up missing payments and getting stung for fees/interest.
if you aren't already, get organised, understand, make the system work for you, and good luck:)

It would be fair to say that the word 'scam' in the majority of posts could be exchanged with, 'I made a mistake but would like someone else to blame', or 'mistake'.
  • When I got my capital one card I had to phone up and activate it and there and then the guy asked if I wanted to set up a direct debit, which I did for the minimum payment.

I too have never had a problem with C/One they have a 24 hour phone line and the people on the other end are great very polite and helpfulI can't see what your beef is TBH I don't receive paper statement as they are not needed, but then I pay the balence off every month and just use the card as a debit card and get my cashback in January Great way to get paid for using your own cash

Looking at your previous posts it seems you have a problem with almost everyone you come in contact with Hmm :( 29 posts in five years methinks you maybe trolling old son

another accusation of trolling :undecided i think some people only make the effort to post when they are unhappy about something, which is human nature for many.
fwiw i have found CapOne customer service to be significantly poorer than Amex and MBNA over the years. both Barclaycard and CapitalOne can be a disaster, until you get through to someone, in CapOne's case, in Nottingham. then the game raises significantly.
i recently came back to CapOne for my back up card, and the CS ive had has been much better, but not sure if that's due to a general improvement, or with Aspire Elite cardholders are looked after by more experienced CS staff.

I have a capital one card and set up online statements no problem. They also email me whenever the statement is ready to look at. I had paper statements to start with but prefer online ones. When I activated it they also asked if I wanted to set up a DD. I didn't as I prefer to pay it myself but I've never missed a payment. I have called them at midnight and they are available 24/7 so I'm not sure how you didn't manage to speak to them.

I've noticed that their time from statement to due date seems shorter than other cards.
