With Lollipop Motorola became the manufacturer that is supporting the oldest device by updating it to Lollipop. Google updated the Nexus 4 to Lollipop showing their commitment to supporting their phones.

The Moto G and Nexus range will be getting updates long after HTC retire a perfectly good phone by not supporting it. I wouldn't even pay 130 for a M7 when I can get a Moto G knowing it will get regular Android updates.
