Minor RTC on lane merging to left

I'd like to thank everybody for their advice again, it's partially resolved in my eyes now as the general consesus was it would end in 50/50, which if I didnt agree with i'd have to settle in a small claims court and that's not worth the hassle for minor damages and i've decided I'll wait a day or two before I book repairs.
I have notified my insurance provider & legal rep incase he decides to go against what he said last night about sorting it without a insurance claim.0 -
you have to admit , reading the thread with no involvement , it does sound like a pair of idiots with egos too big for their own goodNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

There's a lot of speculation on this thread, we all know and have experienced people blocking us from merging and it's one of my pet hates, especially when the road merges and opens out repeatedly on a stretch of road anyway.
BUT it's not always so, there are any number of reasons why this accident may have happened and the OP didn't come in giving it the self-righteous "he was trying to jump the queue and I stopped him" line. I have therefore refrained from being the one who turns this into yet another trolling thread, is this thread yet another one which requires 30 pages of arguments that lead nowhere?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thank you, I was simply asking for advice on how I should proceed, not to believe me based on my version of events.
I use this road everyday and people always use the merge lane to try and get ahead, I just let them as it's a 30 & 40 anyway and is always busy during the day.0 -

Assuming that's the end of it, in future insurance quotes remember you'll need to declare it as incident - no claim made (or something along those lines).
You could try contacting the council and seeing if they have any CCTV footage in case he tries to pursue a claim against you in the future.0 -

What makes you think you would win in tbe small claims court?
You are struggling to comprehend the following:
YOU and the OTHER driver are to blame.
Hope that clears things up and you learn from your mistake. A bit preachy but rest assured many on here have done the same (I know I have).0 -
Thank you, I was simply asking for advice on how I should proceed, not to believe me based on my version of events.
The issue is how you proceed depends on how well your version of events can be tested.
For example, side by side, at the lights, he pulls into the side of you, his fault all the way and one if you had a witness I am sure you would win.
Trouble is the rolling/not rolling and gap closing/acceleration issues which makes it seem very much 50/50
You have, it has to be said, taken the thoughts on board and I am sure you appreciate most of the people in the thread, me included were genuinely trying to help not just be annoying. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

I don't think that I would win in a small claims court, but I have my side and he would have his and it would be for the judge to decide. That's what my legal rep said it would come down to if I decided not to accept the 50/50.
I am not failing to comprehend anything, people are entitled to their opinions, as am I.0 -
Just to be clear, when you went through the lights were they;
Red and Amber or
Green
They were green by the time I passed the traffic lights.Assuming that's the end of it, in future insurance quotes remember you'll need to declare it as incident - no claim made (or something along those lines).

I will be sure to add that if my renewal is alot higher due to me reporting this incident.0
