A Mac is hardly ever 'necessary', but if you want a quality PC (and a 'PC' is what a Mac is these days), it's a good bet.

Mine is 6 years old now, and very rarely turned off, yet keeps going, so incredible VFM IMO.

I work in music industry too, so some packages are easier to get for Mac.

  • See if your mum qualifies for the education discount, if she does, it's honestly the best deal you'll get on it anywhere, especially at 0%.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

I think they are OK computers just worth about half the price they charge. So not for me I am afraid. Plus I like to have control over what I do with my files.

No shame in admitting that you don't know how to operate a Mac.
  • anyway of getting a student discount on a mac book pro if I am awaiting to go to university. I know they get 14%, but could do with it now at 6th form

A Mac has always been a PC, as have all the other non-Windows/Intel (aka Wintel) brands which have existed over the years.

You can get the standard education discount, which is more like 6-8%, or if you know someone who's at university they can buy it for you. Personally I'd just wait until you're at university.
