You would think BT would do a flyer drop on the area once it is live to let people know about it.

Agreed - I too got all excited by the new green cabinet. I did receive two flyers, but it wasn't showing available until over a month after they came through the door...

I was registered with BT for years waiting for Fibre to cabinet, I noticed that the cabinet had been put in over a year ago, it then took a year for fibre to be available, no notification it just showed up in a broadband search.

Whenever I contacted ISP's they had no Idea on date of activation & BT openreach don't want to be contacted & hide any direct contact details just referring you to their very vague openreach fibre roll out map.

So I signed up with SKY as was already a TV customer & got the cheapest deal on the go at that time, I have a long line, so Broadband went from 3 - 4meg up to around 32meg now, not the thundering advertised speeds but better.

Long line speed problem still exists with FTC it would seem, SKY did pay for an openreach engineer to come & bypass my internal wiring with a new Fibre specific spilt master socket which no longer requires any external filters as it's built in, so the router now has direct connection & sorted out a minor line fault.

There has still been no notification that Fibre to cabinet is available here from BT openreach or any leaflets or even a sticker on the cabinet I have seen elsewhere it's like they don't want you to use it !
