According to BTwholesale.com- My local cabinet has been fibre enabled - thanks very much for telling me - BT - I had been waiting for 3 years since they started upgrading my area !
Needless to say, I am looking forwards to at least 40Mb rather than a dodgy max 3Mb speed
The site mentions being limited in speed by "bridge taps" and "copper line conditions" - by which I am assuming they mean line sharing and copper wires to the cabinet - both are not an issue - since we were removed from a line share, 2 years ago and a new wire was strung up across the road to the cabinet (40 yards away) at the same time ..
So I can see great improvement in line speed ...
Next problem - do I stay with TTbusiness or move ISP's ?

In this context, a bridge tap is where the line splits before your master socket, usually (but not always) inside the house.
If you have a master socket as the first connection on the line, with extensions coming out of this then it is fine.
If the line splits at a central point in the loft (for example) then is distributed to various sockets throughout the house from there, then you have a bridge tap and this can impact on speed.0 -

I moved from TT residential to TT business when my cab became fibre enabled and i have to say the service is fab. 75/18 meg speeds day & night, top class Warrington based phone support and as good as the likes of zen, idnet, aaisp etc but without eyewatering prices.0 -

Because BT are responsible for the hardware and according to an e-mail received from them, 6 months ago - we were not going to be upgraded in the near future !!
The only way that I discovered that we had been was a look at the Wholesale website - had I not checked, we would never have known !!0 -

Thats who I meant - but since openreach do not respond to queries.......0 -
You're not alone -I signed up to the 'keep me updated' link with as many ISPs and fibre checking sites as I could and have still to be told I can get fibre by anyone. it was only checking myself that I found out it is available.0

I found out about Fibre when I kept seeing a lot of BT vans and a nice new green box at the end of the street. I had signed up to all of the "keep me informed" things but have now had it for about 7 months and still not been told about it...
You would think BT would do a flyer drop on the area once it is live to let people know about it.0 -
