NSD for me yesterday... We did go to the pics but from a different budget and took our own sweets :) mum treated me and DS to a Chinese afterward so no additional money spent! :D

I made a load of bolognaise and chilli which has been batched up and frozen alongside the soup... Also made a lemon drizzle (which is in the freezer too) and some chocolate cake!

I'm going to make some lasagnes today -- but I'm not sure about freezing these? I have dry lasagne sheets so I'm guessing I'd need to cook these first before cooling and freezing? Then just defrosting and reheating the lasagne? Or can I just layer it all up and freeze it?

I also have some very ripe bananas so need to find someway of using these up!

Thanks for any advice you can give me

    Jo xx

When I made up lasagne for the freezer I used dried sheets and cooked it to completion, as if I were serving immediately. Then I portioned up and froze, and defrosted and heated through when required. I had to fully cook though, as the intention was for DS1 to take to work - and the only thing he has access to there is a microwave. He wasn't keen on it (he's used to highly processed ready meal ones), so I reheated the second one in a conventional oven, and thought it was just fine.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
Logging a NSD today. Will be eating up leftover sausage chilli with some rice and melted cheese today.
I am amazed I can stay out of the shops for a day after it has felt like I've needed something every day so far. Horray!

Thank you... That's what I thought. I know from experience it doesn't microwave well but the plan is to take it out in the morning and oven-cook when I come home anyway... Thanks :D

Well done, it took me about a year to wean myself off a daily shop,
kept getting a weird feeling that I had forgotten to do something:rotfl:

  • Just been to Mr M and spent £9.73

£2.36 of this was on 2 sets of L*nx for men, deo and shower gel. I normally pay more than this for just 1 deodorant. Haven't yet decided if they are for present pile, or for when hubby and boys run out, suppose which ever is needed first. Either way was a good purchase.

Other thing was amazed me, was I went to do a big shop, and felt I couldn't spend as I knew I had food in so didn't really need anything :j

Jan spend so far is £41.81

  • 4 NSD's in a row. Although now we have run out of olive oil and cream so need to pop into shops to pick up some plus some spinach off the market to go with tonight's tea. I have withdrawn the £50 that I wanted to so now just need to focus on needed grocery spends only!!

Is it still possible to join this? I'm challenging myself to £20 per week for my grocery spend (£80 monthly). In my first week (as was away with the family last week and didn't have to get groceries).

Could I be added to the challenge please?

    Thank you!
