  • Forgot the coffee yesterday so another £1.39 and treated myself to some roses £3.50 to replace the dead ones in my Christmas arrangement. Foliage from the garden still fresh so bought white roses to give a fresh feel for the new year. Still looks like it cost a lot so really chuffed with myself. Did my mum one for Christmas as well she was over the moon. Used to do this a lot but it all went by the wayside when kids and work came along so I'm trying to get back into old style ways!!!

NSD no. 3 today, am on a roll!

Tomorrow might not be a NSD because the dishwasher repairman is coming in. He does not charge for the visit and will not ask for money if there is nothing that can be done, but I hope that he can sort it out. If it costs more than £200 then it is not worth it, but I hope that it might be less than that, as the dishwasher is a decent Bosch that has lasted us nearly 18 years and I would be sorry to see it go. We might or might not replace it.

Correction on Sunday 4th January: yesterday I got confused thinking that I was on Sunday, but it was Saturday! So I might stash up another NSD today! It is on Monday (tomorrow) that I have the dishwasher tech coming.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thanks for the sympathy, hand is recovering well, hasn't stopped me doing anything, just taking a bit longer!

Maybe someone is trying to tell me to give up cooking, just attempted Tarka Dhal for first time, went to shake the jar of cumin, you know, in case it was stuck to the bottom. And you guessed it, the lid wasn't secure and now I smell of curry!!

However, Dhal finished and will have as dinner this week sometime. NSD for me today, hoping to squeeze another one in tomorrow as I think I'll manage with what's in, but need a few store cupboard ingredients so will go shopping on Monday.

I think I'm addicted to going grocery shopping, so I'm gonna try for once a week including fresh stuff. Wish me luck!

  • Well, today unfortunately didn't turn out to be a NSD after all as DS needed his hair cut for going back to school on Monday. Leftover Christmas turkey from the freezer made a huge curry so we're having it for dinner tomorrow too! Fingers crossed for a NSD tomorrow.

Well it's wet and horrid here but after taking dog for his walk and grabbing a bowl of cereal so I didn't shop hungry I decided to tackle Mr T. A full shop completed Inc washing powder, conditioner and loo roll. After using a £2 voucher my shop came to £47.39. Well happy with that. I still need sandwich bags but hope that will be all I need to spend.

    Ninth Anniversary
Hi everyone! I've lurked around here before, but have finally signed up for MSE to post on this thread. After a pretty serious holiday overspend, my emergency fund is depleted; hoping to get a solid chunk restored this month. I had a look at last year's numbers, and we averaged £370/month on groceries, toiletries, beverages and misc SM stuff. This month I've got £234 in the budget for 2 adults, which seems tight to me! But many of you have lower amounts for more people, which gives me hope. :)

Dh is going fishing so that's dinner sorted. Another beautiful day here today, temperature is supposed to get to 27, so will be eating our fish 'al fresco', have a great day everyone.
Gosh - that sounds lovely. We had trout cooked 'en papillote' in the oven - I wish it could have been bar-b-Q but it's about 0 degrees here tonight :D

Sent DH shopping for yoghurt and he spent £6.90  but he did get some YS stuff and cheap stuff for pack-ups so I didn't complain bless :kisses2:

Hope you all having a great weekend
