  • I've often wondered if eBay's "dispatch" system does do what it always should, especially with non UK sales. I suspect (and I'm not a cynic you understand) that when the system is under strain, a lot of these basic functions get put on hold/sidelined/whatever..

The ebay estimates don't help either, they assume stuff arrives with buyer before you even post it. Keep an eye on your dash as well as a small sellers will struggle with too many INRs in a short period.

I'm closing sales down shortly - just holding my never for a few more days yet.

And remember when Ebay said buyers could not open a case until after the delivery time?

What they didn't say, was that Paypal would allow claims the very next day.

Sold an item 2 weeks ago - buyer opened a case next day after the post had been. I'm now dragging out his refund and its still a case in Paypal. Dumbo hasn't escalated yet - he keeps adding a message 'please escalate' instead of actually ticking the box.

Hope a month waiting for a refund will make him think next time.

From a buyers POV, it is super frustrating when you pay a lot of money for an item, receive no notification that it's been shipped and no response AT ALL when I politely ask a) if it has actually been posted and b) is there any tracking??

    .

I now ignore such messages as you end up in an arguement with someone of lower intelligence.

Ebay clearly state delivery time in the listing, on checkout and in an email to the buyer.

Ebay clearly show when an item is dispatched and send you an email, which you clearly can't be bothered reading.

Listing page clearly states method of posting and if the item is tracked or not.

When you ask a seller 'when will my item arrive', 'as it been posted', 'is there tracking' - the seller checks MyEbay to see. Here's an outrages idea - why not check MyEbay yourself.

Oh !!!!!!! For the last time, for those that can't read, in big clear capital letters - THERE HAS BEEN NO NOTIFICATION ON EBAY - THE ITEM IS NOT SHOWING AS DESPATCHED A WEEK AFTER THE AUCTION ENDED AND I PAID ERGO NO E-MAIL. ALSO, THE ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE HAS PASSED.

Do you understand that now? The seller also said that the item would be sent tracked. As there is no despatch notification I asked if there were tracking details. Is this really so hard to understand? Are all you sellers stupid or unable to read?

In fairness to lioness, i know exactly what she means, and it seems some have maybe misread her post.

If i buy something with say a 2 day dispatch, sent 1st class tracked, and after the delivery date has come and gone the item is still not showing as dispatched on ebay then i see nothing wrong with asking the seller about it.

I often receive goods that have never been marked as dipatched, for some odd reason some sellers dont do this until after you leave FB.
All of this means the buyer never gets a dispatch email to check in the first place.

And the winner for the craziest buyer this season goes to the buyer who after not having received their item within 4 days sent this message:

Where the hell is my product??? I'm a 25 year old girl that has phyco logical problems in the bedroom! I can't get aroused and I DISPISE sex but trying for a baby! The fact that you have not sent the item when you said you would has really caused me physical and mental toucher! I have really bad thrush and water infection due to dry sex! I'm opening a case, I want the item AND a refund!

I think I am going to have to consult an OBGYN and a Psychiatrist before I attempt to reply.

    OMG

    Good luck with that one:rotfl:

  • I'm in a similar situation to Lioness Twinkletoes - an item I won & paid for 10 days ago hasn't turned up.
It was listed as being posted 2nd class recorded, and twice I've asked the seller for tracking to try to locate the parcel, and they've ignored me, just replying with a snippy "well other parcels I've sent that day have arrived" and "you'll have to go through the formal complaints process", in a tone that accuses me of scamming.
So why won't they give me the tracking details? Makes me suspicious about whether they posted it, or maybe they decided to save a few quid because it didn't make as much as they expected.

And thats the side buyers face on ebay same as sellers getting bad buyers.

As a seller it doesn't take long to mark a listing as despatched (and I would get so sick of eBay pestering me if I didn't!) but as a buyer I can get a little concerned if my seller doesn't update to say they've shipped.

I'm waiting on something at the moment - not an eBay sale - and the seller took a couple of weeks after payment to send it. She did let me know but I can't help thinking my parcel is now stuck in the Christmas crush and wouldn't have been if it was sent more or less straight away!
  • Well my item still hasn't arrived, still hasn't been marked on Ebay as despatched and I've still not received a response from the seller. It's been ten days since I won the auction. Time to open a case....
