Computer desks & cheap ones

I'm in the process of looking for a computer desk. Corner ones are out of the question.
I don't have a budget as such in mind but i wont be paying £500 on one.
I've the usual things you'd fit in & around a desk as well as a sub which i'd prefer not to be on the floor.
Some of the ones i'm looking at are around £150-£200 but even those when you look at the reviews there's people complaining about drawer quality.
I was looking on Amazon at some of the cheaper ones around £70-£110.
Has anyone here got these & can comment on the quality? Piranah seems to be a brand that keeps appearing on Amazon.

I've found the top-end Ikea ones to be well made & solid. My most recent one was from an online office equipment supplier - dent quality and reasonably priced0

I have a large corner desk. £10 off ebay. Its flawless, sturdy and does everything a desk needs to do. I cant imagine paying out the kind of sums you mention. It is after all a piece of wood with 'legs'0

I have two...One an Ikea Hemnes white, which is extremely solid and useful. I got it in white, because it goes with the study and I figure it will paint really easily if the decor changes...:D
The second, was bought from an office surplus shop, second hand. Cost me £30 and is fine for a home office. Planning on putting that in a new office at the bottom of the garden in the summer...fingers crossed..Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

If going wood then my preference is for it to look like wont. I'm not really keen on painted ones myself.
I could get a dirt cheap desk if i was just buying a desk - "wood with legs" as you say& just get a topper with 4 posts & hey presto.
But i like to have storage space too. I'm not overly fussy between drawers & shelves. Can't go wrong with shelves as drawer runners can break i suppose.
A section for the PC to sit in. A mini shelf for the sub as my preference is for it to not be on the floor.

But i want storage space also. The house isn't the biggest & you can never have enough storage space. So i was looking at styles along the lines of...

I was looking at some corner desks but the room is only 2mtr-x-2mtr & ended up deciding against it.0 -

I don't know if this could be an issue for you but I would make sure there is enough room to have the mouse on the side of the keyboard.
Working with the mouse on the top (as shown in the pictures on all three websites) can be a pain.
I had one of the cheap workstations from argos once and I had to "downgrade" the keyboard to one witout the number pad to have the mouse and the kb on the same level.*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0 -

+1 for Ikea, I bought the Malm desk and matching drawers, nice and solid, even though it's built to a price, perfect for a study/computer use, veneer is still good after 18 months use.0 -
Had a gander at Ikea & wasn't keen myself.
Thanks for the tip about the mouse
Also for that typo - that's what you get when you type at silly hours in the morning when you should be in bed lol.0 -
Dunno where you're based, but I have two computer desks in my garage that I'm about to take to the skip/recycling centre at the weekend.0

I'm 'oop norf'
I had a look at IKEA. The best one i could find i thought was this one
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80214158/
But 2 drawers isn't much storage.
I also found a major sticking point in virtually ALL the desks i've been looking at ............ the section where your tower goes isn't enough for my tower.
The dimensions of my tower are: 47.5cm high - 50.5cm long - 21cm wide
When measuring the desks that actually provide measurements, the height always appears to be a problem, the length usually is a problem but the width is ok.
Very annoying. I wanted plenty storage space but it looks like i'll have to take a basic desk like the IKEA example. My other gripe with that IKEA desk is it's only 120cm across. Most of the desks i've been looking at were 140cm.0
