I got £25 SSP and that was all, did not claim benefits, also I am a taxpayer so I am entitled to claim SSP, don't take to moral high ground, I work as hard as the next person, if not harder

Do you work my friend, if so would you claim SSP if you were not able to work

Keep your fingers crossed-emailed enquiring about a job and have received a form to fill in which I have just done and sent back. The job is within walking distance of my house and has hours to suit-not school hours but at night up to 4 nights a week. If successful I plan to do 2 nights a week(11 hour shifts) and if I can cope I will increase my hours. It's care work which I have never done before but I'd rather be doing something and look for a different job, than not work at all. It's not ideal but I think I can manage 2 nights a week as I can then get home in time to get the kids to school and then drive home and go straight to sleep, and hopefully sleep in the day before the shift too. It's worth a try right?

OP - I too have PF and found that these really helped

The gel insets come in 3 different sizes so you can pick which suit - I have a medium in one show and a light support in the other.

I volunteer in a shop on Saturdays and don't find my heels getting too bad now.

Also I was told not to wear pumps but good shoes, preferably laced, with a good sole.

Good luck, you seem to be trying really hard, and I hope you find something soon

Yes I tried the supports when I was working at Boots but they didn't help. I haven't found any difference whether I wear trainers or shoes. The only thing that made any difference at all has been the ballet exercises, and I only tried those in despair because my eldest started pointe work and said her ankles had improved a lot so we figured it might help with heels too :)

I couldn't stand all day in a shop-I'd be in pain after half an hour and crying after 3. I wish it would just go away. Am sick of feeling limited by my heels.

  • Have you tried taking a combination of Co-Codamol (Pain) & Ibuprofen (Inflammation), I take it for my Tennis Elbow, it helps me to be able to continue working, even through the pain, which is still painful, not nearly as painful as without meds

Good luck TMD, don't despair. Did you write somewhere that you had a degree? In anything you can use? Don't under value yourself, you might not have worked towards a career, but a degree is still a degree.

Sadly co-codamol makes me quite dizzy and I am not allowed to take ibuprofen as I have high blood pressure. Also I am not a fan of covering up pain regularly with meds as that's what I did while I was working at Boots and ended up on morphine.
