#141 here. Have paid November bills and extra payments to reach my 100% target. Signature updated.
I am now going to bow out of this challenge as I am moving next month. I will see you all in the new year for next year's challenge where I hope to get rid of the remainder of my debt.Debt in 2008 - £97,417 :j*DEBT FREE - SEPTEMBER 2016*:j

I bought a winter coat this month so haven't paid off as much as I otherwise would have. But on the plus side I've just gone full time at work so next month's pay packet will be fatter. And we'll be getting our (sadly tiny) annual pay increase backdated for the last three months, so I'm looking forward to that.Pablosammy wrote: »
After we've all reached our targets, what do people feel is 'acceptable debt'?
Clearly it's unrealistic for most people to buy a house without going into debt, but what about cars? Or big credit card purchases that you intend on paying off within two or three months? How about sofas on interest free credit and the ilk?
I'd like to get to the point where a mortgage is the only debt I have, and am buying cars and other big purchases outright when I can afford them with cash. It might take a few years to get to that point, but that's my 'end game'. I don't know how realistic it is, but I'm going to try!
I have almost the same aims as you. I'm more forgiving of interest free debt so would be happy to buy things on a credit card if I already had the money to pay it off at the end of the month, but that's it.0 -

Well I've paid off my Natwe$t loan completely (originally £6000) and paid back all of my tax credit overpayment for 2013-2014 (around £1800), taking me to my target of £4683/4683 :j
The sad news is that I have received another bill from HMRC - I owe a £400 overpayment for the tax year 2014-2015. I also put £200 on my one remaining credit card to pay for a hotel and I won't have the money to pay that off till the end of the month - so I'm still in debt!
I can't declare myself debt-free till I've cleared those balances, but it's only £600 and with 2 paydays left before xmas I think I can do it.
So my revised total is:
#9 £4683/£5298 (88%)
Well done everyone else on all the hard work this year!Starting 2016 debt-free

I got a new job! After almost three years of temping I've got a permanent job. I'm really pleased but it means I'm going to be moving from weekly wages to monthly wages... most likely won't get paid until the end of the year
I have a small emergency fund that will pay the bills (just!) but I won't be able to put anything towards my debt for the rest of the year.
I'm going to concentrate on not getting into any more debt and looking forward to next years thread when I'll kick this debt's butt!Total debt at LBM = £4861.03
