Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

We had a noise we couldn't locate recently in our bungalow, and it turned out to be DH's mobile phone, which he had put in a drawer and had forgotten he had left it switched on :D

I think this is as you say a factor of living in the modern age with all the gizzmos we leave on standby forever.

I would say just forget it, difficult I know, but if you can't silence it why worry.

Do the power off thing, but don't forget it could even be your electric meter, they use radio signals these days and are pre mains switch.

The 1 that causes issies in our house is the cooker clock.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

The simplest solution would be to keep a source of white noise in your bedroom to mask it.

I have, or had, a strange noise. Turned out to be a radiator. Adjusted the thermostat thingummy and it went.

My microwave hums constantly, it's quite loud when there's no other background noise.

Do the neighbours have anything like a fish tank against your party wall? That would be on 24/7 and they do make a hum.

Could it be the dastardly land grabbing neighbour , whistling through the letterbox in the wee hours

  • I have exactly the same whining noise and it only started after I recently had cavity wall insulation installed.
  • SKY boxes can make a strange noise sometimes

Somebody on here had a similar problem and it turned out to be be their neighbour's fish tank pump.
