Be very careful about this offer, as several members of my family tried to take advantage of Free Eye test and/or contact lens offer last month at D&A and was complete nightmare from beginning.

When you arrive, you are asked a series of questions about why you need an eye test and what glasses lenses you require.

Unless you are interested in making a purchase they will say something along the lines of "Well, there's little point in you having an eye test today" and turn you down. And yes, we've complained, but customer service are not replying (surprise, surprise).

With my daughter, they refused to do eye test unless she picked out the lens type beforehand, and they even asked "how will you be paying for your new lens" before the eye test had begun.

*Lens for glasses from D&A (just lens change - same old glasses) - £160 (free eyetest) + 1 week waiting time

*Lens from usual opticians with free glasses sp. offer (vision express) - £75 (+£25 eye test) + 1 hour waiting time

I went into Dollond & Aitchison the other day. I said 'I need an eye test, please', they replied 'yes you do, this is W.H. Smiths.'

    Haha! Boom boom! :rotfl:

I printed it straight from the webpage, then thought "how will they know a voucher is a photocopy, if it's done on a good photocopier?"
Then I noticed the voucher number, "aha" I thought, "that's how". So, as I could print it off from the web page and there was no email confirmation required, I went through the form again and entered a fictitious email, so I could print off another voucher for my mother - and the voucher number is the same!

Has anybody else noticed whether multiple vouchers have the same "voucher number"?

Apols if the bolder bigger writing offends anyone, but I'd like to have more chance of folk browsing to notice the question.
    :)

Right, got a voucher with a different number, but only after deleting my cookies and history. You may not have to do both, I'll leave that up to your experimentation!
    :)
  • I GET THE FOLLOWING ERROR,
    Error, invalid email address
  • Woot thanks for this!! Just filled out the form and received an email straightaway. Keep meaning to get new glasses but need an up to date prescription before I can buy the pair of Guccis I've had my eye on for ages from spex4less :D
  • I've made an appointment for me and my brother next Tuesday to see if we need our glasses reglazing but I just realised i've only done a vouceher for myself and now the offer has stopped.

Can anyone send me their voucher code if they are not going to use this offer please?

My other option is to try and print the voucher twice and just plead ignorance if they say anything. Do you think this will work?

    Thanks, Ryan

You can have my voucher number (54643), hope that is of some use... just discovered my nearest D & A is bl**dy miles away!! :D HTH...
  • Candyflossing, I think the staff at the branch/es your family went to need re-training, as that wasn't my experience today at all. The staff were friendly, didn't have any problems accepting the voucher & had no problems doing my eye test though I made it clear from the moment I got there that I wouldn't be choosing any glasses today, as I'd just come for the free test. The test was professionally done, with everything explained to me - I still can't stand that machine that puffs air at your eyes, but the machine that tests your peripheral vision by asking you to count the number of lights you see was a bit of fun. :) The staff clearly wanted me to buy my glasses from them, but they weren't too pushy about it & had no issues with writing out my prescription for me to take elsewhere. They offered me the form (rather than me having to ask for it) to give to my employers confirming the need for new glasses, so that they can refund a portion of the cost. They were also prepared to use my existing frames for the new lenses if I wanted them to - I don't because these are a bit battered, but it was nice to be given the option.

The only reason D & A won't be getting any business from me is because their frames are just too expensive (maybe they have different prices for different areas) - I need varifocals because of my astigmatism ( ) & the cheapest the woman showed me were £170 . Compare that with Specsavers whose varifocal range start at £40, & who also have been running a BOGOF deal for ages on their £75-£125 range, & it's no wonder D & A don't have the number of customers they used to. However, I can't fault the way the staff treated me today at all. :)
  • Did they spend much time looking at your voucher or checking if it was registered to you?
