I really think there is something to this. If you believe that you are a winner you become a winner.

For example, I am a huge Lady Gaga fan and have won a couple of Gaga competitions and what are the odds of that happening! It was like it was meant to be. And I knew I was going to win my money prizes (which are the prizes I've wanted the most) because I told myself I was a winner and was going to win.

I tell people all the time "tell the universe what you want and you will get it". It sounds stupid but it works for me as long as I'm doing my bit by entering the comps. Just don't be greedy and ask the universe for a Euromillions win. :p

My boyfriend has been entered for most of the competitions too. Either I enter him if the t&c's allow me or he enters from his own IP address. But he hasn't won a thing other than a multipack of Cheerios and a Cushelle koala lol. I told him it's because he hasn't asked "the universe" for some help. :p

However, I am going through a dry spell but I think "the universe" is waiting to surprise me. :rotfl:

that part allways makes me wet myself....if you think there is some cosmic link between yourself & some random computer picking out your name, then youve clearly been on the xmas booze too soon lol.

Really? people are offering thei thoughs on a subject and youd rather just belittle and shove it off?

the power of positive thinking is HUGE and if you dont believe in it maybe thats why your not winning!

theres been a few ive entered and after entering i have said to OH im going to win that you see.. and i have, it doesnt happen every time and if it did it wouldnt be as fun, but occasionally i just really believe i will win it, not that id like to win it but that i actually will!

Also, it is highly irritating when people enter 'comps' when they have absolutely no interest in the prize! Everyone's chances would slightly increase if people actually entered comps that they would like to recieve.

A new poster that gets it. I tip my hat to you. :rotfl:

I'm an open minded person. My post was semi serious but it definitely does seem that there is some higher power at work. I used to be the kind of person who would be pessimistic and say I'm so unlucky and I think that if you have that mindset it shapes your reality. But I know that this is something incomprehensible to closed minded people.

Think about how when a person is depressed, stressed or when they think they are unwell they start manifesting physical symptoms. The same sort of thing happens when you are negative about stuff such as comping. If you believe that you are unlucky then you will always be unlucky.

I've won 45 prizes this year. That's a lot but most of them have been smallish wins from competitions that not everyone would want to enter, e.g.

I've won 16 prizes from craft magazines mostly sewing related.

Another 4 were local to me - a spray tan, tickets to a Halloween event, day on a sports course, breakfast at local restaurant.

Quite a few of the others were worth less than a tenner: Anchorman moustache, Flash gel, riding socks, disposable barbecue, jelly and a lunchbox, pen, vitamin tablets, books

There were some prizes for my 8 year old son, none very high in value but he's always excited to get something in the post: Lego the Hobbit goodie bag, Nut Job movie goodie bag, Shark game (this has been a big hit and he's spent ages playing it so one of the best wins actually), superhero books. I also won a Furby that was part of my daughter's birthday present.

So overall, you might well have not entered many of the competitions that I've been lucky enough to win, as the prizes wouldn't necessarily appeal to you. It's just a numbers game, enter both the high appeal and limited appeal competitions, overall you are likely to have a handful of wins.

Hey embera - still waiting for a win? I'd suggest you stop wetting yourself and start asking the people in question exactly what they've won. Wait, what was that? They've won more than you? Ah yeah, I'd wet myself about that as well. ;)

Thing is who knows? Really? It might be the universe at work - or it might be that when we focus on something we are more liable to see the opportunities before us and take advantage of them. And then we deem ourselves lucky or blessed by the Universe. Attitude is the thing - if you think you're lucky then you very probably will be. It'll be the same situation, you'll just be stood on a different part of the map looking at it in a different way :)

I'm sorry but it needs saying...it is NEVER too early to start on the Christmas booze!
"The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming"
  • I sort of agree with the universe thing, like the time I got mortal at works Christmas party and embarrassed myself. I was so mortified I prayed and prayed that something would happen so I wouldn't have to go to work the Monday after. Then I was in a serious car accident, didn't go back to work for a while. Within reason, everything I've really wanted to win, I've won.

I too find it interesting when people enter comps who have no interest in the prize or just to sell it. It gives comping a bad name amd this is probably why companies don't like compers.
    Make £10 per day-
    June: £100/£300
  • All you can do is keep going and hope for the best. As the old saying goes, you have to be in it to win it. I've been comping for years, never won anything big, but a few nice small prizes come my way each month. At the moment I'm entering about 150-200 a day.
I just enter and forget...hoping to win something! :)
