Broadband ONLY package.

Hello,
I currently pay £7.50 P/M to my mother for my internet but this also incurrs a £15.99 line rental fee. However, she is struggling to pay her line rental and says that she doesn't really need it so it may help if we cut that back..
But does anywhere do just broadband? Nothing else added. I don't really want to be paying £25ish a month for my broadband....
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

you need a phone line to get broadband (this needs to be outlawed as far as in concerned)
I have no idea if your in a cable area maybe you can get bb only?
only other option is a mobile dongle type affair, quite expensive though and very low usage limits.
and if she has low income, don't work etc, check out bt basics for line rental, £5.10 per month, small call allowance included.

You can't have broadband with BT basic phone.
Perhaps you should contribute to the line rental as well. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
If you are out of your initial Bob contract, I'd suggest haggling for a better deal with your ISP.
If you get both and phone from the same provider you may do better.
I recently got a good deal off Sky with 12 month up from line rental for £141.40 plus BB at £2.50.
Only available at retentions though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I can't see that it makes much difference. If somebody has to provide landline infrastructure it might as well carry phone as well as broadband, and they aren't likely to provide it for free.0 -

How would you get broadband without it ?
Do you think that people who actually use their line for calls should pay the cost for those who only want broadband ?
Most broadband users use the line more than those who have just phone and no broadband.0 -

Virgin stand alone broadband, which doesn't need a phone line is £28.50 a month, which is only £1 less than with a phone line.
Other companies' broadband does need a phone line from somewhere and is expensive, if that line is not with them.
A few companies, in very limited areas, do broadband that doesn't need a landline, but it is very expensive, so there is no gain.0 -

I am on BT Basic and have received a letter from BT offering broadband as quoted by spyhunter but as my broadband is free at the moment I have not taken up their offer but will do when my offer runs out0
