Oh what wonderful news. The little one's parents must be over the moon. The Moonpig idea is great, and I'm sure it will be appreciated by the parents. One day, when the baby is grown, he will see that you cared enough to celebrate both his birth and his homecoming.

All the best to the family for the future.

I'd now like to find something like a welcome home or 'congratulations on leaving hospital' card for a baby, if such a thing exists!

If you have a bit of time before you have to send the card, I'd suggest one of the craft websites like etsy.com (American but often delivers to UK), folksy.com (UK based) or potentially notonthehighstreet, though they seem to do less personalised stuff. They're all a bit like Ebay but for homemade items, and you can often ask sellers to make something personal, eg. by adding words so that a 'Welcome, baby!" card becomes a 'welcome home, baby!' card or perhaps even has the name and date on it. I love doing this as you get an absolutely unique keepsake.

The most recent one I bought was a housewarming card for two of my friends, with a cross-stitch design on the front that had the same colour front door as theirs and their house number on it, with a personalised message to them both.
  • As an example, this is a 'welcome to your new home' card which it says you can have a personalised message on so I'd consider contacting the seller to ask for '[Baby's name] - Welcome home!'

(putting in 'personalised baby card' in the search engine) there are ones like this where I'd be tempted to ask if they could replace 'new' with 'home' so that it said 'Welcome home baby girl' (or boy, if it is a boy!!)

And it looks as if you could easily get 'coming home' information put on one of the petals of the flower on this card, instead of weight or something like that:

Or I might ask this one if they could change 'Born' to 'Came home on':
