Bertie if it helps any they were talking about clarifying existing law next year by making the period of acceptance 30 days in most cases.

IMO 8 weeks is way too long unless there was more to it (ie buying winter sports gear in summer).

But if acceptance has occurred, you can only force a refund if the seller cant repair/replace within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience (and i'm sorry but i'm with others that going without a tablet is an inconvenience, but not a significant one) or if a repair/replacement are impossible or disproportionately costly.

As a note of interest, they were also talking of giving the retailer only 1 chance to repair - where at present it would be what is deemed "reasonable". By talking I mean there has been drafts sent out for consultation to retailers, cab and others but no legislation has passed yet so changes could happen.

I took a Nexus 7 back to Argos because it had stopped working.I had had it for 20 months. Quoted, not fit for purpose. I went on twitter to the Argos an Asus accounts and lodged my complaint. I got a full refund and did it also for a friend. Companies do not like you going on Twitter.

I prefer IRN-BRU as it doesn't have the bitter after-taste of irony :D

Totally.......But, as it took you three months to think of a reply, you have lost any impact you may have been desperate to achieve.;)

Leaving aside arguments about rights, SOGA, etc. I think it's worth mentioning the Tesco Hudl repair process in practice...

I bought my grandson a Hudl 1 the Christmas before last. The headphone socket stopped working correctly in January (about 14 months from purchase). I checked their policy with local Tesco and was given a claim form to submit. Tesco accepted responsibility and arranged a courier pickup. A few days later the replacement (a recon in excellent condition) was delivered by courier.

So it won't be weeks it will be a few days. The replacement will have been wiped and had the latest firmware installed so pull off anything you wish to keep - you'll need to pull down your apps etc. from the Play store again.

The dodgy charger port is a known issue

Thus should be deemed not fit for purpose

Fight your case as it depends who you deal with some are better than others!

So it wasn't a repair but a replacement and we still don't know how long a repair would take.
