Does anyone know how long postal applications take to process?

I sent application by first class post on Saturday, and wondering how long it will take to be accepted for the bonds, and the cheque to be cashed.

I know they are very busy, and wondering whether it will take weeks or months before I hear anything.

Successfully applied for a Direct Saver after the "Internal Server Error". This seems to have unblocked the pipe as the paperwork relating to that arrived today (form to sign and return) with an NS&I number under separate cover.

Logging in with that reveals the bond. The security set up is as per the details entered on that (the Direct Saver application), not the bond.

Furthermore, I am guessing there has been some manual intevention here to link up these details with the bond. The application reference on the Direct Saver paperwork does not match the reference on the Direct Saver confirmation email.

There seems to be various ways in which people have bee issued with there Bonds, I had the internal server error just after inputting my Verified by Visa information, did sweat a bit as it was late at night on the first day. Rang early the next day on the alternative number and was told "lots of people had the same error which was due to the NS and I servers not being able to cope" Immediately rang my Bank - HSBC and they had no trace of any transaction for NS & I, kept checking all that day and still no trace so decided to ring the alternative number again to see if I could apply over the phone. On Saturday I managed to get through and spoke to a very nice lady who was very efficient and gave me the unique ref number and then followed this up with an email with the same reference number. The next email was on Tuesday confirming my investment but as I didn't have my NSI number I couldn't check anything, today I received all the information that I needed and was able to log on and confirm that everything was ok.

So, in summary, a bit of a palaver but all has ended well, I haven't had my bank account charged twice like some people but I hope everything turns out ok for these people.

use form R40 after the bond matures, so 1 year or 3 years time
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
