I dont suppose the receipts break down what you bought?!
Last time I used my card in a bar I got a receipt with the drinks listed on it0 -
Perhaps leave your cards at home next time, if you want to get drunk.0

I thought that too but apparently not. I bought a mcdonalds breakfast earlier today on my one remaining uncancelled card and when I thought I should double check if there were any pending transactions on that one too Halifax told me there was nothing - not even the mcdonalds. So it would seem that transactions can go missing completely too!0 -
But yes, I don't know what was going on and given that I rarely remember much when drinking even small amounts my recollection afterwards is not very good
Thats my fear, I've been smashed to the point where I've needed other people to walk me through what happened, the next day. But even so it doesnt really account for 4 figure transactions on your card unless you were buying everyone champagne!
The dancers themselves usually only take cash. Dont suppose they were walking around with card readers :rotfl:0 -

nope, just the headline total amounts. I did think that the club should be able to prove exactly what the bills relate to but in a strip club that could be anything - although it doesn't explain why the amounts changed from one minute to the next0 -
Does your bank statement show the transaction as the Strip Club and not some other name (like a fraud device the bartender was using).
I find it likely the bartender might have tried something on but less likely that the club would try to "rinse" customers on Card (maybe by cash).0 -

me, a friend and a couple of his work colleagues. It was my friend that first pointed out that the amount on the till didn't match the machine (or something, he's not quite sure) so I doubt he;d have let me spend thousands on him before he decided enough was enough0 -

That's not possible. Sometimes transactions takes 24 hours (or more at weekends) to show up, but they are always on record. Your purchase from this morning might not show up until today.
I know in the past someone tried to use my credit card by (the bank think) entering random 16 digit numbers. My card came up but the transaction was declined due to suspected fraud. My bank phoned me to check whether I had made the transaction. They had on record several other online attempts - all of which had been declined. I'm sure the credit card providers/banks can confirm exactly what payments were attempted - and I would have thought be able to confirm why the rejected ones were declined (wrong PIN/balance etc).
Hope you manage to get this sorted.0 -
Did each card have the same PIN?
Ultimately if you enter the pin you are responsible for checking the amount. Are you one of those people who reset the pin to something you are unlikely to forget (like 9999) and do it on all your cards? Is it possible that someone else with access to your wallet saw you authorise one payment and then got one of your other cards and entered the same simple pin?
One might ask how you managed not to lock yourself out of at least one of the cards in the state you admit your were in?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
