  • I closed my Vanquis credit card today, long story I had fraud go on the card on the 4th January which they rang me about as the fraud was in Orlando and I came back on the 29th December, they then didn't stop the card automatically like I thought they would once they knew it was fraud, I have to ring three times to get them to cancel it and send me a new one. The new one came and it had a start date of March instead of February then I got my new card today and as it's in credit I decided to use the credit to get my petrol and put the balance into zero. My pin wouldn't work (which they had said was the same as my old one) I tried it twice thinking the first time I put the wrong one in, I rang them and said the pin wasn't working and they said the card hadn't been activated correctly (even though I did it through their automated service). They activated it and I again tried to use it and it got blocked due to wrong pin three times by this point. I rang them again and they said the pin was changed on the 3rd January to which I pointed out this wasn't done by me and it was who ever had defrauded my card. After nearly an hour on the phone I told them to stick the account and give me my credit back, apparently I now have to wait for a cheque to arrive, I asked how long until I got some sort of response from my complaint, to which the claim department woman said "oh do you still want to complain?" I am best off out of their company as I wouldn't trust them now.

  • Me and b/f have had a long chat tonight (bit of a nightmare as he is 300 miles away working at the moment) he knows about my debt and he knows I am trying to pay it off, the house I'm in I can buy it off the housing association for £75000, well the plan is for me to pay off my debt and then save £15000 each for the deposit. I think we are looking at maybe three years away (well for me). He's great with money and has the deposit already saved, but I want to us to have equal rights over the house and start as we mean to go on.

I now have a real goal to work towards and something to look forward to. It's made me more determined to pay all my debt off and save like mad.

I have closed my Lookagain catalogue and JD williams catalogue so I can't be tempted to buy things I don't need or want. I haven't used them for a while but I thought that my credit rating will look better for them being closed and now I have started on my over draft too I'm hoping by the time we go for a mortgage I will have a better chance of getting one.

  • I had a really hard time last night the urge to gamble was a nightmare, I transferred my money to my daughter account to keep it safe and kept myself busy. I don't know what came over me as the day after tomorrow it's been 3 whole months.

I just kept thinking how much I have paid off and how great my position is right now and how easily I could ruin it all. I'm miss OH so much right now he's been away two weeks and it's been hard not having him about :( we hardly get to talk as he is always driving and after work he's so tired we sort of have quick conversations about things and I know how he would feel if I lost all my money and put myself deeper into debt.

Tomorrow is my day off and I have done a huge list of things I want to get done tomorrow it will keep me busy so that should help. I did speak to GA today and they said they come across the three thing a lot apparently with quitting whether it's gambling, smoking or drugs etc there is a sudden urge at three weeks, three months and three years he said he went through it too, which has made me feel a lot better.

I'm going to do some baking tomorrow I haven't baked for a long while and I love making cakes and biscuits (as well as eating them) :D. I did my weekly shop today as I had three hours to kill at uni and there is only so much revision I can do :).

Enough of my ramblings for today

Thank you :) I am so determined I will beat this then it will be time to work on the smoking :( I hate smoking but me and OH are going to quit together but we both thought that the gambling was doing more damage (money wise) once I feel like I am stable we will begin the no smoking task.

Thank you I'm getting there :j

I made hob nobs and ginger cake today and had a huge clear out finally moved everything from the downstairs toilet (the dumping ground) into the shed that's been up a few weeks but it's been rotten weather to venture down the garden. We now have a downstairs toilet again :D I mainly wanted to clear it out as OH is going to put a corner shower in for me which will make mornings easier with a (almost) teenage hogging the bathroom in the mornings ;).

It's DD's play at school today I'm really looking forward to it but I didn't budget £4 for the tickets so that's come from my food budget this week. I have had the most amazing pork and apple casserole made from a pork joint I cooked and froze in slices but it tasted dry so much better for being slowly drowned :rotfl:.
