Just a quick line to say that during my lifetime, I've known 3 people who have attempted to take their own life because of their misery over what seemed like insurmountable problems at the time. All 3 of them thankfully (as one of them is very dear to me) failed in their attempts, went on to deal with the problems & are now living contented & fulfilled lives. There will be a solution to your debt problems & there will be hundreds of folk on these forumns in a similar position. When you've got your head around the anxiety of it all, get some expert advice from one of the free charities & you can start to move on. Best wishes x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Couldn't read and run on this. Take a deep breath, Contact the Samaritans - they will call you back if you ask them, and they usually have a "local" landline number to call as well that you can find online, so don't be put off by the 0845 number.

They will let you sound off, get your own thoughts in order. They don't judge you, and will hold your hand for as long as you need.

Then, when you can, talk to your parents. Try not to feel guilty, but they need to understand what happened if they're to try to help. If that's not possible, keep talking here. I so often am surprised by the kindness and empathy that strangers show on here, that I come and read when my faith in humanity needs topping up.

Then the debt. I often see the Martin quote that he's never seen a debt problem that's unsolvable. That brings me straight back to this wonderful forum. Lay it all out, the SOA, the debt, the APR and let the wonderful experts here guide you. Not every piece of advice will suit you, but those people will offer a different perspective.

Please remember that people care, from family and friends to complete and utter strangers, and through that weird and wonderful network of people, you will get through this.

Hi Stainlee, I have been in the situation that you are in right now after taking a load of pills, which I realise was a stupid thing to do.. That would have been almost 2 years ago to the day, so I would like to offer some support by saying that if you get some help things will get better for you. Life is so much different right now, I am dealing with my debts and the gambling problem that got me into this situation.

There are loads of people here with huge amounts of knowledge that will help and support you along the way. Stick in there and you will find that things start to get better for you.

This Government has more than a trillion pounds of debt on its books and rising. Do you see any of them stressing about it?

Next time anyone feels down about ebt just look at this and smile..

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

If life is truly not worth living I have every sympathy with those who consider/complete suicide.
However you have some debt as do I and many others here on the forum. It is not the end of the world yours or others.
You can start by telling us the whole story, surprisingly no matter how stupid you might feel others are not judgemental.
Divulge your worst you cannot sink any lower.
Tell your parents that you are seeking help, this is one problem that they cannot/should not sort for you otherwise you might never learn from this experience.
You have to decide how to carry on. Do you want to go under? Are you reliant on having a good credit record for your current role?
Could you go bankrupt? Many do and come back stronger.
Look at the number of highly educated, socially elite and successful people who have come through this.
You have started the rest of your life, continue please everyone deserves a second chance
  • The others here are right,
I did hit rock bottom and really put myself and others around me in a big mess
    So my people to talk,
If it helps message me and talk just do talk to someone there are ways out of it
Most of all good luck and keep that head up

I know how consuming debts can be, I still feel overwhelmed at times. However contacting a debt charity was the best thing we ever did. For us we are using stepchange and they have been our saviour.

If you feel able, detail your debts here along with your income and other outgoings. There are some amazing people on here who may be able to help.

I hope you start to feel more positive soon, I honestly think that by speaking to one of the charities you will feel a weight lifted off your shoulders.

Didn't want to read and run, there is already some very sound advise on here - and well done to taking the step to post. Take some time to get some professional help and advise, no debt is insurmountable and certainly not worth losing your life over. Your journey back from this point will have good times and not so good times, but this is not a problem, its an opportunity to make some positive changes. Keep posting and talking, you most certainly are not alone x
