Must confess I got a Panasonic off freecycle. Older model but fantastic, especially for free!0

I do have a breadmaker in our attic. There's no room for it in our current kitchen so it rarely comes out to play! I guess I should probably make an effort to use it or sell it on!
I've had some interest in my latest ebay listings :T so hopefully I make something on them. Got some more things I'm thinking of selling on too.
I never spent all the money I allocated for my works night out (it was fabby!) I stuck to soft drinks and saved a fortune! I still had a great time too. :beer:If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

You know, thinking about it, I have gluten free flour in the cupboard. I should get OH to bring the breadmaker down and see how many loaves I get from the bag of flour. Could potentially be a good saving if I can make a decent loaf. :rotfl:
It's around £3 a loaf for the genius bread that I prefer (it actually tastes like "real" bread).
It's only £2.60 for 1kg of gluten free flour blend... :think:If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

I've just made a big commitment to myself!
I am not going to waste £3 a loaf for genius gluten free bread anymore. :money:
I have just ordered a monster 16kg bag of gluten free bread mix, along with some quick yeast and xantham gum (a texture stabiliser).
Total cost was £30. I can make 23 loaves from this (May have to top up yeast etc but relatively cheap).
This works out at £1.30 a loaf. :j
Total savings if I make all 23 loaves is £39.10:eek:
Plus I will be saving money from having to travel round the supermarkets to see who has any genius in stock!
I have no idea what the loaves will turn out like:rotfl:
Will have to experiment with my breadmaker but I'm committed to not buying any from now on!
I should be an expert by the time I've finished my 23rd loaf! :rotfl:If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

And thank you to everyone who made me see sense and encouraged me to dust off my breadmaker! It was the push I was needing! If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

My breadmaker has a gluten free option, which is invaluable in the g-f apple household. Dh is banned from aking 'normal' bread in it as he would contaminate it for me and dd - not that that is top of his 'to do' list! I confess I'm not always successful with the bread, so do persevere if it comes out like a brick!
So, I completely second making your own bread - and rolls, doughy treats... My sister has even made cakes in her's!
ps I agree that the Genius is the only decent one out there. It is the only one dd will eat, but she can get it on prescription (6 loaves = 1 item), which saves us a huuuge amount.
Good luck.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Well done MM ! As applemuncher says, mine has a gluten free option too. I'm delighted you have decided to give it a go. I have found if I follow the recipe guide that came with the BM, loaves come out great. If you have a timer you can set it to have a fresh loaf for breakfast

Mines doesn't have a GF option I'm afraid. But I can give it a go on other options and see what works out best!
Everyone will need to keep their fingers crossed for me! :rotfl:
The flour I have bought is a blend for bread-making and there's plenty recipes online for using with it. How hard can it be:rotfl:
Ooh Bexster, that sounds amazing! Will need to look and see if mines has a timer or not. I very much hope so!If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

Good luck MM. I will check my recipe manual and see how GF setting is different...
