My mortgage free mission...

Wow! Just had a play about with the overpayments calculator! Amazing!! :T
So, after the wedding, I think even on bad months I could pay easily £100 op. This alone would reduce my term by almost 4 years!!:j down to 8years or so.
However, I do love a challenge! And I would much rather have it all paid off ASAP. If I aimed for £300 op monthly then I could be mortgage free in just 5 years
OH reckons we can get 5 years out of our little flat, but I'm not as confident that I can contain myself from looking at houses for that long!:rotfl:If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

Also got myself a book which I am going to start writing down ALL my spending into... I'm sure this will be an eye opener!
Now I just need to decide if I should start the book now or after Decembers pay day?If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

So, I underestimated on the postage for my ebay items I had sold. Only by about a pound between all three items, but still a bummer! :(So I made a whole £11 before ebay takes their share. Anyone know what % ebay take when you sell items? If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

Also just checked the old current account and budget doesn't appear to have slipped as badly as I had expected! WhooHoo! :j:rotfl:
I'm also £100 up from switching to first direct ca.:D Now, do I use this to op mortgage, or towards student overdraft. Decisions, decisions! If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

Really hoping for a no spend day today - however away out to dinner tonight then a Christmas market... :snow_grin
I also think OH is beginning to come round the my way of thinking... Sort of:rotfl:
Although he is still not ready to commit to overpaying our flats mortgage, he has started reading some finance books and thinking ahead.
This is a big thing!OH is all about making money. He is very committed to making sure we are well provided for but he also doesn't like to wait for anything. Cue credit cardshe loves luxury. 5 star hotels, his mercedes  and generally enjoys spending money! So for him to start thinking about finances and looking to the future rather than the here and now is amazing! I'm so proud! I didn't even nag him:rotfl: as this was more about my own little adventure paying of my mortgage!

Not a no spend day  yesterday.
Wasn't too bad as paid £1 towards parking then £2 towards some cheese from the market. Had I not been in a money saving frame of mind it could have been much worse! :rotfl:If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.

Going to a Christmas market and only spending three quid isn't bad. I agree it could have been a lot worse!!

I'm feeling really optimistic actually! Might list more things on to ebay. It's a tad addictive! If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before.
