The place is safe now so wait till the LL is informed in the morning. No one will turn out tonight anyway.

    You may well be correct.

However, if i had a suspected gas leak i think i'd prefer your old man to be the one to make a qualified assessment of what was safe or not rather than listen to topdaddy's 'advice'.

    Me too.

I 100% disagree with you...like everyone else does.

    You are 100% wrong.

Why do you think everyone is disagreeing with you?

Anyway, the OP has very sensibly contacted TRANSCO now, and it will be dealt with tonight. TRANSCO are probably already at the OP's house actually...

The OP took the sensible and correct advice. She did NOT leave it until tomorrow, she rang TRANSCO and got them out tonight.

So that is the end of the matter.

    Goodnight. :)
it appears you are wrong. Sometimes you should listen to thkse more qualified than your self.
That truely is the end of the matter.
    Good morning.

    Good morning.

    Here's the advice from someone more qualified than any of us;

I notice there's not anything mentioned about calling them out tomorrow if it's cold and dark outside.

:T Of course this is what you should do.

I literally cannot believe the advice from some on here! Telling someone who has a gas leak that they should just leave it til morning!:eek::eek:

Oh and my brother is a gas engineer also, and he confirms that you would indeed call the emergency gas number immediately.

Leave it til the morning?! This would be funny if the advice being given wasn't so phenomenally dangerous.

Seriously people, think before you post.

As has been said, thank goodness the lady in question decided to call the emergency number after all.

Hope you got it sorted OK OP.

The gas has been switched off. Remind me where the risk is then? No gas no risk. YOUR brother should know that. You ned to consider what you post. Alarmist attitudes like this at midnight on a december friday night in minus five is not helpful or safe.

If it is a mains leak obviously switching it off would do nothing.

Given the leak was evidently inside the house, it was safe. And engineer should still check it, but a few posts have been abit alarmist.

100%. Its fact. No gas no risk or would you like to dispute that?
