No links to sticky threads given by me either - it doesn't help you if you can't find your way around the forum after reading each thread. Follow CC's advice and you'll see how easy it is to get around, read threads then come back to page one. The sticky threads are at the top of the thread list and it is VITAL you know how to hop back there each day when researching stuff. Forum Jump is so easy!

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scrap-Parking-Penalties-at-Warrington-Halton-Hospitals/1409082859422436?fref=nf

This is the Facebook page that has been set up to try & put pressure on Warrington & Halton Trust. The ANPR system has been in place since 1st April and up to now they have sent out penalty notices to the equivalent of £300,000. If that was continued and everybody paid it would equate to £1.2m a year. And that is on top of the the money actually paid into the machines. The reason given for parking charges is that the hospital is trying to " streamline" the parking there. Well, nothing has changed , there isn't a single new space to park and one could be driving round & round looking for a space by which time your free 30 mins is used up.

I'm sorry to jump on a thread that is quite a few months old, but I have recently had one of these notices in my mail. The first one was June, which I ignored as I had heard that it was the done thing to do. The words of wisdom spoken to me were "Ignore it, its not a fine only the police and the council can fine you, its just a notice and holds no weight". So I basically tore it up and binned it.

However, I have since received another one today, and as I have lapsed on my 14 day reduced rate fee I now have the full £75 to pay and if I don't pay this there will be debt recovery charges placed on top. This has got me really worried as I just don't have this stupid kind of money to pay out for parking for a duration of 1 hour and 9 minutes. The most ironic thing is that I attempted about 3 or 4 times to put my registration number into their machines to pay for my car parking (I wasn't try to get away with it) and it failed to give me any fee to pay, so I just walked away from it a bit confused and went home.

I know lots of advice has been given out to direct people to the sticky thread for newbies, but I have tried to find this and I am not familiar with forums at all and don't seem to be able to locate it. I only got on this page to see all these posts through a google search about parking fines/notices at Warrington Hospital. Then I joined and was able to post, lol. So can anybody give me advice now on my predicament ... do I just continue to ignore, or should I get in touch and say I never received my first letter and try and negotiate paying the reduced fee, but also explaining that I did try to pay at their machines etc ... or can somebody post me a direct link to the sticky thread for newbies and will I find my answer there?

    Thanks

only a fool ignores a private PCN in england and wales , so whoever told you to ignore it is also a foolish fool, in essence , an idiot

there has been enough publicity on the tv (watchdog , and dont get done get dom etc) and in the news and newspapers for people to "wise up" since the law changed 3 years ago

its an invoice, they have 6 years to chase the driver for the money

    yes you should appeal it

learning to use this forum (and others) is essential in this day and age, spend some time learning how to navigate the forum, same as you learn to navigate your own area in a car , then you dont get "lost)

the NEWBIES sticky thread is "stuck" near the top of this parking forum, find it, read it , several times

learn the game, learn the rules we are playing under, appeal your pcn before the time limit runs out

if you dont, you could be storing up much more trouble in the future where it will become harder to deal with , possibly a court case , so learn and appeal and avoid court if you possibly can

more work now, less work later, plus you have other forum members here who will help you, BUT you need to help yourself as well

trying to plead your case with a PPC is like a salmon on a hook saying "please dont eat me for dinner, I was only passing through and taking a rest" :)

and no, trying to negotiate a reduced fee never works, these people put PROFIT befor PEOPLE , no compassion at all
