Hello!
This looks very interesting, and I'm certain on paper it will work. May I just throw an old person spanner in the works?
As I am almost 15 years older I would say life can be terribly unpredictable. Sometimes in a good way and more often than we would like in a bad way. All I am saying is try not to over plan as it can make you blinkered to opportunities on the way. I would also feel very depressed about being stuck somewhere/anywhere! Until 2033.
Life is what happens to you whilst you are busy making plans - as some famous person once said ( no idea who).
I wonder if the drugs are talking more in this post!!
( clearly I mean your post not mine!!!

Hi Bexter,
Fair play I can always rely on you to shine some wisdom. Thank you
What you said is very true, and I spent today thinking it over.
You're right, life does happen. Just on the positive side alone I could meet someone, and even though I don't plan on having children, I could end up with one. Or I could lose my job, become ill etc. I've come to terms with this, and understand it's highly likely there will be a few spanners thrown in the works, and that I could change my mind completely over the next few years.
So what I've decided to do is continue this plan, as it helps me stay positive and not fall into a hopeless depression. BUT, I'm aware that things are likely to change or be amended.
So at the moment I'm in the lull of waiting for payday to make any dents in my OPs. It's depressing! Does anyone else suffer with this?
So I'm distracting myself with the de-cluttering thread and downsizing ready for the time I want to move. I want to move (ideally) from a four bed house to a two bed flat that wont likely be spacious. I have a lot of junk and it tends to grow substantially when I'm not looking, so I'm picking one room a month and de-cluttering that big time using the KonMari method, Mam is visiting for a couple of days tomorrow so I'm about to tackle the spare room tonight. There's a wardrobe, chest of draws, and a crammed space under the bed. Wish me luck!
Does anyone use, or have they used the KonMari method?

Hello again SJ!
I don't have kids, never wanted them ( odd then that I decided to teach!!) and I think having a plan is great, I wouldn't have got where I am without one.
I'm more worried you seem so depressed. Is it just the house? Do you have any hobbies? Can you start looking for that cool work experience you are wanting? I remember how hard it is when you/ everyone else moves away and you have to start again. What goes on nearby? Can you join in anything? Ideally with people of a similar age but anyone with similar interests would be a start.
I think it's easy to overplan that's all. Some of the best things I have ever done were certainly NOT in the plan, but I'm glad they happened upon me
Chin up SJ, get yourself all over the old style boards. Loads of like minded folk there. Try the MMM thread and not buying it threads!
See you over there

Hi Bexster, thank you for your reply

In answer to your questions:
It's a mixture of things, but all revolves around the house, yes. I'm in a deprived town where people have a very different mindset to my own. When I bought the house, I was desperate to find a place as I felt I had no where else to go, and the house prices fitted my very modest budget. There were childhood friends in the area and I thought we could hit it off again, but turns out we're very different people now, and there's not much to talk about. There's absolutely nothing here apart from pubs. No clubs/organisations/events etc. I moved in 18 months ago, and I knew after two or three months that I'd made a huge mistake. Only problem is there's no way out that I can see. It's a depressing thought, but hey ho, nothing I can do but save and get out. I can't rent because I have a dog and two cats, no where takes that many animals. I think this is why I obsess over MF plans etc :rotfl:I'm more worried you seem so depressed. Is it just the house?
With work being intense, and doing a post grad course online, I don't have many days where I'm free. So my hobbies include running (but currently have an injury so can't do that). With working from home I can go a whole week without seeing anyone. This is utterly depressing. All my friends have careers of their own and live an hour plus away. We meet every month and it's great to catchup as we all relate to this in some way.Do you have any hobbies? What goes on nearby? Can you join in anything?
I could start looking, yes. But it's going to mean a serious cut in pay, and this means not being able to move for 7-8 years. Where as if I stay in this current job, even though it bores me to tears, the pay is good, and gives me the opportunity to move sooner. Can you start looking for that cool work experience you are wanting?
I'm sure this is quite boring for others reading - sorry!
I'll be updating with a more interesting OP tomorrow!
Bexster - thank you for chatting, you're a star

Thank you Bexster

On a side note, I'm addicted to The Good Wife! It's amazing. Great suggestion!
Update on the decluttering:
I tackled the guest bedroom last night. I detoured from the Kon Marie method but managed to completely declutter with a big black bag of rubbish and a box for the charity shop! :j
Financial To-Do List:
- Cancel last credit card.
- Send claim form for TV license refund.
- Sort FD debit card (change DD's).
- Change bank account with work.
Mother is over for a couple of days, so looking forward to a great catch up. Hope you're all having a good week!

Hello
Yes it was a long watch ( can you tell I've been unwell for a while!)
I recently found grace and frankie which was good ( and only one series). Someone else mentioned house of cards which is awesome too.
Well done sorting the spare room. Hope you have a great time with mum.
