No airline transfers luggage between LGW and LHR (...there may be exceptions for the super elite!)
You're golden...0 -
am looking at it right now...
DUB-LAS via LGW (Aer Lingus , then Virgin)
The return flight is:
LAS-DUB, but we land at LGW, then a 3hr window to get to LHR, and fly LHR-DUB with Aer Lingus...
Surely that must mean collecting my luggage in LGW and yeah, driving straight home....
Price is £327 for the above, I need to book it!!!!! just trying to grab that last bit of info to assure myself I can collect our bags in LGW!
Yes, you collect your luggage-Is it booked???:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Yes, as other have said, with a change of airport, that would be fine.
Did something similar back in Sept, but used Oslo as the starting point. Flew into SFO and back from LAX for £307, just made sure that we had an overnight layover in Heathrow on the way back, so had the excuse not to check the luggage all the way through. As long as the layover is less than 24hrs its OK.
Flights were with BA, and everything went smoothly, would definetaly consider doing it again.0 -
well, lets just say, I've been stopped in my tracks,
wife doing my head in........
I can get us 1 way flight with baggage to Dublin from LGW... £60
Then DUB rtn to LAS...
Miss the final leg of the flight when landing at LGW = £327
£387 for a flight, and she wont say yay or nay.......
Just reading up on Divorce law at the mo ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr0 -

You need to allow plenty of time in Dublin on your way out. The ticket to Dublin is stand alone, so if it were delayed you would be a no show for your other ticket.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. 8hr window for Dublin....... Plan was to use 'slush' money so I pay for a hotel/room in Dublin...
As would catch Ryanair plane that lands at 11pm, and we would need to be back in airport for 5am.......
And yeah, may just book the tickets today, and suffer the backlash later.....
I found a similar setup last year, but she wanted to wait until the prices were really high to book! doh !!0 -

If you are both committed to the holiday cost excluding the flight, then I would book it. If booking this flight means further money being spent on a holiday for which there is no budget, then I wouldn't book just yet.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. From the female perspective.......
The last flight of the day landing at 11pm and leaving at stupidly early o clock with a long day of flying ahead of me wouldn't appeal either ....and what happens if that last flight of the day is cancelled ?
Now if you took a lunchtime/mid afternoon flight out , leisurely diner and treated it as the start of your holiday -maybe you'd get a better response.
Just a thought.... A nice dinner in Dublin is cheaper than divorce !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
We did the Dublin thing.
As the last poster said though, we made it part of the holiday. Landing at 11pm and out at 5 is a tiring start ahead of tiring travel.
We landed about 3pm and stayed at the Premier Inn near the airport. Cost me 39 Euro and has a bus transfer that runs every 30 mins or so for a euro each.
Near the hotel, 5 min walk is a bar/restaurant grill place. Was live music when we were there, lots of Guinness and had a lovely steak over a few hours. (Let me know if you want me to find it)
Back to hotel and was back at the airport at 6am for the gatwick->Vegas hop.
Was a great start to the holiday and lots of people int he hotel and bar were doing the same thing. Recommend it.
On the way back we flew into heathrow and our connecting flight was from gatwick so got luggage fine. In fact on checking in to get home from Vegas the american check in agent re-iterated several times that I would need to get my luggage and make my own way across London, so all good.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0
