wow...hi sew! long time, no see!

Hi mate yes my five year old (who was concieved in Vegas) has prevented me from going I am chomping at the bit to get back out there and one of my best friends as you probably know owns nite tours and lives there but even that is not enough to justify the expense. We are going to Florida this year so maybe Vegas next as part of a West Coast trip. Seems odd something like 40 trips in 20 years and nothing in nearly 6
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

    2. I'm staying at the Stratosphere which isn't the best but I'm considering booking Mandalay Bay for the last day we are there for the pool and bit of luxury :)

I meant to reply to this before and must have forgotten...I can understand the wanting to treat yourself at the end of the trip, but not sure I would want to move for one night only. Sometimes the check-out/check-in thing can go smoothly but sometimes there is a delay on the new room (though they may offer guaranteed early check-in which would minimize that a bit)...in any event it does take up a bit of time even when it goes smoothly.

I am not saying don't do it, it sounds like you guys are looking forward to something a bit different your last night and it could all go really quickly. The bonus will be you'll be packed for the flight home as you're unlikely to unpack more than what you need for your last night...so that will offset some of the moving time a bit. :)

    hi
thanx for the info on my question in regards comps(page 51)

I must say i did not know much if anything bout comps before i read somethings on here(and on my vegas facebook) and i was like " hello free stuff?:D"

I checked onto the mlife page(i had one of the cards from last year, july) and i see i spent $745 in total over a week !!
It is intresting to see what people get in regards comps and i guess it looks like hit and mis.
My brother and I, maybe out of 100%(of the gambiling time) prehaps spent 85% or so on the slots. We didnoy like the*minimum bet* i guess you call it on the roulette(and black jack) so we limited our time on those.
we did like i guess the wheel of fourtune type big wheel(in the mgm grand) If i recall there was like you bet against what it would come on the wheel the casino person spun, there was 1-1 2-1 5-1 and i think 100-1 as well(if i recall there was loads of 1-1 options and 2-1 and a few 5-1 and the 100-1 i think there was 1).
We however gambled for fun(and hopefully win big!) and not for comps but if we could get both a big win and a comp then great, but we d settle for a big win!:T

anyhow thank you all for the advice in regards my question in regards comps!(counting down the days here 49 days to vegas)

have you checked your offers via mlife?

You say you spent 745 - is that from last year's win/loss statement?

And that big wheel - if you enjoy it, that's what matters (I really mean that)...but it is considered the worst bet in the casino. :)

    hi
yep the 745 is from the win/loss statement it was in (745) witch i feel is a loss,(i would have noticed if we were up let alone up THAT much !)
I did not realise it is the worst bet in the casino though in reflection i can see why, though i always assumed
roulette and most of the slots(at least low limits) were the worst bets!

As for theMlife offers it seems (i did spent a few minutes looking) i have like a few *discounts* in regards sorta rooms and some shows. It would be goo to try for next year though(having booked already this year!)
anyhow thank you for your response.

I always pocket winning slips and chips, and use whatever cash I got, or cash chips in and then start again, as others said, they don't record anything other than cash when gambling :)

my tax info shows a few in brackets and a lot for wins.. namely Excal and Monte...
Excal shows $600 win, and we only gambled in there once for 1hr :)

Yet they didn't offer me any comps.. so I guess like you say, the more you spend over time in a place gets the offers rolling, kinda :D
We hardly spent anytime in the Luxor yet we both got offers from Luxor! unless it stems back from when we stayed there in 2013.

Quick tip re car hire if it helps.

Looking at booking car in Vegas, been looking at on-line brokers etc.

By far and away the best price is with virgin car hire.

Got a Toyota Sienna off there for nearly 3 weeks, £987 (via virgin for alamo).

Going direct to alamo was over £2500.

    HTH

    D70

i used usrentacar.co.uk , got a platinum suv for a week in nov inc ALL insurances ( and i even mean windscreen/tyre/undercarriage ) unlimited extra drivers and a tank of fuel for £160 supplied from dollar

the same car direct from dollar.co.uk was .......£250 for the week plus additional for extra driver

so id check usrentacar if i was you they even beat virgin car hire as well

I'm not sure that is true, at least for slots. As far as I know it's all based on play through, doesn't matter whether you put in a note or a ticket...the machines track your play through and it's that that most casinos use to rate your play. And it's not necessarily just what cash you put in to start that matters.

On a very basic level...as I understand it for most Vegas players clubs.

One person may put in a $5 in a $5 machine and have 1 spin, no win - $5 play through.

Another may put a $5 in a $5 machine, first spin win $50...play 5 more spins of $5 and win nothing more. They had 6 spins of $5 each - $30 in play through and they walked away with $25 in their pocket.

The second player is $20 up and has 6x the play through of the first...both started with $5.

Of course, the more you start with, the more you are likely to play through, but two players starting with the same amount could end up with significantly different results.

Edited to add: the comps formulas are all really complex and play through won't be the only thing they look at, but it's a big part of it, in theory it's the biggest part of it - but there are other things that go into it...but comps are typically based on your theoretical loss, and your theoretical loss is normally based on play through.

Wizard of Odds has some interesting info

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/roulette/basics/

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/slots/

Penny slots vs $1 Big Six bet isn't that big a gap, but the rest are pretty significant.

Got my best ever offer through from Cosmo. Interestingly my last offer was the worst I'd ever received. Testing the water?

hubby wants me to ask what tier you are, if you don't mind saying...he's recently been changed to sterling so I think is just curious what might come of it (if anything).
