.... And merry Christmas to you too :) I hope 2016 is better all round than 2015 :) have a great day
  • Merry Christmas everyone. Christmas just the three of us was FAB! No running around, waiting for people, grumpy people, people making you do things you don't want to do.

My mum was mad though, she thought we would change our minds so was grumpy on Christmas eve and hardly even spoke on the phone today. Well that's really her problem not mine and we only didn't go due to the things I was talking about above. Sisters didn't even bother with a text. People hey.

Anyhow we had a fabby fun time we watched no TV but watched 3 films, played with toys a lot, made a Lego kit, walked the dogs via the local pub where we stopped for a swift one whilst the rain went over. Looked at the ducks. Made a roast but TBH none of us really fancied much so most left for tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are going to watch the crazy people swim in the sea, put together miniOCCs new goalpost and watch more films. As long as it doesn't pour down of course!

Then panto on Sunday, followed by cosmos, yummy :)

Today wasn't quite a NSD as had a swift beer in pub.

In money news had payment for my now closed VM unit trust which will be banked (they sent a cheque, crazy!) and then transferred to my S&S ISA.

Sounds like a relaxing day. Think my dh's highlight was not having to wait for people some could just eat when we wanted to!

I love how many people this year, here and in RL have had they Christmas THEY really want to have instead of being forced to meet expectations!
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Today we went and watched a crazy bunch run into the north sea and have a swim. walked the doggies, watched films and football, ate buffet, made hama bead robots, started making a snow globe, did a bit of my coursework.

spent £10 at seaside on drinks and snacks.

tomorrow is the panto and out to cosmos.

did a bit of spreadsheet fiddling, need to log in tomorrow to transfer my tidy account to the mortgage. I'm hoping for £20 towards my £113 target by end of year. Its always a bit of a mystery how much is in there! Rest I can take from one of my bills account I think. i also need to confirm my cc payment tomorrow so that everything is in place.

2016 will start with a couple of cashback payments getting me off to a good start. Its only a few £ but a good start none the less. It's funny as its just a number but a new year seems to be starting a renewed optimism on my mortgage free journey. Onwards and upwards.

Sounds like you had a really nice Christmas. :) Every now and then I think about just spending Christmas with wife and son but that seems impossible for me.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

We just did it without putting others first for once. Quite liberating being the selfish one for once! Hope you had a good Christmas :)

Started reading smarter investing by Tim hale. Up to about page 20 and have just emailed to sell my shares! I've held the majority of them for 15 plus years, they've done nothing, in fact I forgot about them for a decade! Anyhow they will be sold when the offices reopen and money will be put in S&S ISA it's not a great deal of money but it's my money and should be working the best for me! I've made some money overall so I'm happy overall with them but could do better in my ISA. That just leaves my Royal Mail shares seperated that I brought when they floated a few years back. Will sort them later as I need to sort pensions first.

Have a couple of annual renewals due Jan that I need to sort in next few days :)
  • almost a nsd.....not! had pre bought panto tickets but spent £5 on snacks. Also sent just over £5 on hama beads as the small person is loving them. I know its just after christmas but anything for the coordination. Then out to tea at cosmos and came out full and satisfied. Cosmos was paid for from ebay sales, money we had been saving for this purpose :)

Since I've been back ive purchased tickets for next years panto, bargain tickets £7 each!!!

miniocc and I made a norwich city badge from hama beads :)

no money stuff going on at the moment will do the final bits in the next few days and do some end of month and end of year figures :)

End of year 2015 and here is the summary. Savings not as good as I wanted but I did only start half way through the year so £5000 was very optimistic!

    2015 targets
    Savings 2015 - 2567.56/5000 (51%)
    MFW15 £5462.58/£5000 (109%)
    Capital reduction 2015 12011/10000 (120%)

    Mortgage 1-1-15 - £138775.

    OP during 2015 - Jan-£448.06 Feb-£111.33 Mar-£167.10 Apr-£159.81 May-£175.26 Jun-£435.94 July-£402.99 Aug-£457.74 Sep-£716.20 Oct-£446.73 Nov-£1199.63 Dec-£741.79

    KW generated 2105- mar-312.2 April-472 may- 463 jun- 463 July - 438 August - 413 Sep-321 Oct-199 Nov-100 Dec-77

    Mortgage 1-1-16 - £126764.00

Ive set some harder targets for next year and would like at the end of the year to be close as possible to £113000 :) lets do it!

Managed to find the extra needed, just over £20 in the tidy account and the £100 switching bonus that I had forgotten about. Very pleased with the end of year results.

Still on holidays from work, today went to see our team norwich city (a good win) and popped in the cinema and brought the star wars tickets for tomorrow using a meerkat movies code so just over £20 for the 3 of us. Will get snacks from £land tomorrow. Wednesday we are going skating and then thursday is a marathon Lego session before the new years celebration. Friday miniocc is going to the grandparents.

Today used up a load of old veg that we had got for Christmas but haven't used up so a massive pan of leek and potato soup made, it was so yummy we had it for lunch and tea! Im writing up for my blog tonight as its so simple to make:)
