I had a few Tefal irons & then two Tefal steam generators.
This latest one I bought a Phillips & I prefer it.
Got fed up of the Tefal soleplate for one.0 -
I have a Tefal. It's very good, but in my opnion it would be better if it had a stainless steel plate. The non-stick one tends to get black and is difficult to clean. Great steam though. I bought a Morphy Richards one before this because it was cheaper but it was rubbish. I had to take it back to the shop and get my money back as the water used to pour out of it. The more bars of pressure the better.
It's better if you're ironing board is mesh. I would go for a bigger sturdier board. Even if the iron rest isn't big enough you can put the generator bit on the floor (If you iron sitting down) or on the kitchen worktop if you do it standing up. Mine isn't a special board but it's big enough to hold the whole tank and iron.
can you not clean it with the stuff they sell in lakeland? I think it's called faultless hot iron cleaner - it is brilliant stuff!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

I've tried almost everything - but not that. I'd have to order it online as there's no Lakeland shop nearby. Thanks though - will have to give it a try.0 -
I've just bought a Tefal GV 7350 and was having probs with water drips. The iron needs to be on the wool temp setting and the steam button pressed for a second before it goes onto the clothes so it doesn't drip. That means ironing things like silks/nylons/polyester is better done on the dry or else you'll get the odd drip. Other than that its one of the best irons i've used, it takes out stubborn creases and wringles like no other iron I've used. A suppurb iron once you get to learn its limits.
jackieb, concerning your black ceramic soleplate, I've just read my Tefal book, it says not to use detergent or descaling products to clean the plate and not to hold the iron under the tap. For (non-aggressive) cleaning of the ceramic plate it says - "use a damp (non-metalic) sponge to clean the soleplate while its still warm"
Hope you get it cleaned jackie:cool:0 -
