Help with EE upgrade
Options
Hi all just wanted some help with this EE company. I have an upgrade option now but they have told me I cannot upgrade with a new phone unless I ditch my current plan (12 months combi 35 with 50% off f&f).
EE have been trying to get me off this since they came into the market and tbh I have wanted to leave them because the network has been so awful over the last 2 years. Its just that I can't find a better deal so I've stayed with them. But how can EE change the terms every year is this lawful? My current plan is 3G but the new plan would 4G so some improved browsing benefits but I hear that the signal is no better for 4G customers so am I just wasting my money? Should I keep hold of my current plan no matter what (as a carphone warehouse employee told me some months ago)?
Thanks for any help.

You don't have any *right* to upgrade. Normally networks offer something to lure you into a new long contract when your minimum term expires. If they don't or you don't like what they offer, just vote with your feet. As simple as that.
Also, most people can just keep using their old phone on PAYG or a sim-only contract and save a lot instead of wasting money on upgrading.0 -
Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking on the lines of my initial contract I made in 1998 which allowed me to upgrade and get a new phone every year. Over the last few years the phone range has reduced and now its gone. So either sim only or switch to 24 months. So what I'm really asking if my current plan is valuable enough to stick with or not.0

Ok 500mins/ unlimited texts and data (3G) £35 with F&F £18pm. 12 month contract.0

Well, it's worse than Giffgaff's £18 goodybag 2000+Unltd+Unltd (£20 from 01/04/2015) and than Lyca's 500+Unltd+Unltd for £15.
If you can survive with 5GB, 500+Unltd+5GB is £15 at giffgaff.
Or if you can survive with 300 minutes, Three's 300+3000+Unltd add-on is £15 on PAYG.0 -

I think you'll find that even back then there was something in their t&c's that said they don't have to give you an upgrade. Even if not, every time you have upgraded since, you will have agreed to their most recent t&cs at that time, and they do now definitely state they don't have to give you an upgrade.
It sounds like you're on Orange or T-Mob at present and it sounds like you would be moving to EE. Again, they can offer you whatever they want. You just don't have to accept it.0 -
cant say the deal is really that greatDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

You wont get a 50% discount if you upgrade with EE as they only give 40% discount for T-M or Orange F&F now. T-M used to give 50% and Orange 40%.
Also the old plans are now really poor. You sometimes dont get good network if you are right next to the mask.
Finally, depends on when you took your SIM only contract, old plans also had 08 numbers included in your plan as inclusive minutes, which doesn't happen anymore at all.0 -

I presume you are still on a T-Mobile tariff? EE want you to transfer to the new 4G network, but they aren't forcing you to move, just don't upgrade and buy your phones full price sim free and you'll be able to stay on the T-Mobile tariff.
Your problem is solved.

jngothi with EE (T-M) its nothing to do with plans. EE have been removing masts as they have had t-m and orange masts in close proximity and needed to streamline. This has caused disruption for a couple of years. I have had an ongoing battle with t-m since the Olympics when this started. 4G doesn't improve signal for calls its for data so my signal will be as poor as it has been even if I switch. Saying that I can look at !!!!!! at lot easier if I go 4G!!!
Thanks for your help guys. I think I may as well go with a sim only plan for 12 months. 5GB data, unlimited calls and txts for £21.99 minus my 40%F&F works out to £13. My only worry is that they will keep reducing this discount if I switch but as long as I don't renew a contract they cant change it right?0
