If the manufacturer is telling you the set should do something it isn't doing, you can argue that the set is faulty. If the store can demonstrate that it does work as the manufacturer designed it (ie Netflix works) then you're probably stuffed, but otherwise, I'd have thought you'd be OK.

Yep, spoken to samsung and already done all the software updates, firmware updates and hard resets to no avail and yes it should be available.
In that case I will take it back as faulty....

  • thanks guys. Yeah think thats the angle im going to approach it

Im quite prepared to let them try and get it fixed in store so wouldnt be stuffed as such, as that's what I have bought it for after all.

If they get it working ill happily keep it and eat a big slice of humble pie but ive tried everything on the samsung site, google and even the helpline so cant see what I could be missing :-/

If it's something else in your home that's stopping Netflix from working (networking I imagine) you'll be left no closer to having working Netflix at home...

That did strike me as a possibility as well. No point the OP getting a replacement TV if the fault is with the home internet connection. The staff in the shop won't be able to connect it to the internet to check.

I find it very odd that Samsung's own helpline hasn't been able to fix the problem. It is the manufacturer I would be chasing, especially since Curry's made no claim about Netflix..
  • I do already have netflix working at home via my mac plugged into the sitting room telly via hdmi and works perfectly.

    Its not a network issue.

As it is, im already back from currys and there was no hassle the guy offered me a refund straight away and logged it as a fault so im happy with the outcome.

now all i need to do is find another solution to wanting a tv in another room with netflix.

Looks like ill be going down the apple tv route with a normal hdtv, at least then worst case scenario i can stream it from my mac if necessary and I know I wont have the same hassle should there be an issue with 3rd party clients etc.

My friend has a Samsung TV that doesn't have Netflix. There was a couple of the smart TV models that just didn't have it for some reason.

Have you thought about buying Chromecast? Its relatively cheap and will let you stream netflix?

Buy a Chomecast dongle for £18 at Currys
