I LOVE THIS SITE AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!

I was just saying this today. I don't think I'd be in anything like the position we are if I hadn't come across this site. Martin really should be knighted for services to the consumer.

    Hear Hear!

Martin's done far more for me than Elton John or that rich bloke with the 'tache ever have, so he'd get my vote for a knighthood any day!

Before I found this site, I was considering a DMP because I thought we'd never repay our debt. Now I'm regularly knocking months off my debt-free date, and the increasing income/reducing outgoings combination has become a hobby!

Where would we be without him and all his chums in the MSE office?!

Great news on the council tax - really pleased for you - that is a huge chunk of money!

Is today scan-day? If so, hope all goes well x

Everything on the scan was looking perfect, no additional limbs/heads etc, so we were free to concentrate on the 'what's between the legs' bit, and it is almost 100% certainly a boy - if it's a girl, she's got serious problems!!!

So relieved that all's ok as I had a bit of a panic last night, and while I suppose maybe I'm a teeny-weeny bit disappointed that I'll never have a daughter (there definitely won't be a No.3!), I'm really looking forward to having my 2 little boys!

On an MSE note, that means NO spending at all on new baby stuff (although I did buy a gorgeous little sleepsuit today in TK Maxx for £4. You have to buy something new or the poor kid will have a real hand-me-down complex!), but the washers are going to be going non-stop, and I'll probably take out shares in Dylon as I'll probably dye all DS1's stuff so it at least looks slightly different in the photos in years to come!

Other than that, I've been feeling crappy all day with the cold, but bizarrely it's only on the left side of my face - streaming left nostril, left eye, left headache, but I'm fine on the other side! Not sure what'll happen tomorrow...!

Did a focus group thing last night - my first ever - and got £45 which was nice. I actually quite enjoyed it too being such an opinionated sod! Kept looking round the group thinking 'I wonder if I know any of these people'! No profit in it as it was miles away, and we had dinner out but it was a free day out in Manchester for all of us and got a bit of bargain shopping as well that'll sell for more on Ebay! Which I'm off to list now, before any further distractions. I promise I won't start looking at baby goods - think Chocaholic got all the best boy's stuff off Ebay anyway!

Glad you had a good day and that the scan showed up no problems.

Strange about the one sided cold - perhaps it is your split personality coming through  :rotfl:

Would normally try and think of a witty reply to that, however I've just discovered that humour must obviously be controlled by the left side of the brain and therefore out of service this evening. :p

Off for dinner, then definitely Ebay...maybe.
  • Glad to hear the scan went well. I think having a boy is cheaper than having a girl anyway. DS seems to need far less money spending on him than DD!

Hoping that's true, although without a DD I won't have anything to compare it to! The difficult bit is going to be finding a balance between saving money/reusing everything from DS1, and letting the poor kid feel individual rather than just a giant hand-me-down case! Because I have previously bought just about everything that you could possibly imagine for DS1, there'll be very little left that we can get for DS2! But we should be debt free when eldest is 7 and baby is 4, so we'll be able to make up for it then!

Still got the cold (full face now!) but thankfully I don't feel too bad with it.

Got my backside in gear yesterday and got stuck into some Ebay stuff - listed potentially about £500 worth, and have done it as auctions for a change as it is really desireable stuff at this time of the year. Will have to keep an eye on the totals!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
  • My friend has 3 boys and she has said similar about her third one. She recently went Christmas shopping with her mum and everything the mum suggested for the baby my friend was saying "Got one, got one" and wouldn't buy anything. Apparently her mum got quite annoyed.

I think anyway for the first few years the baby isn't going to be aware of what is new and what isn't - it'll only be you that'll feel it.I just get around that feeling by thinking what I can do for the baby (and the other two) later in life if I don't spend loads on baby stuff now that I don't really need eg a priority pretty soon is going to be a bigger house so we'd rather spend the money on that.

Good luck with the ebaying -hope you make loads!
