Exactly! You always have to look for those or else you'd stop bothering. I was trying to think of one good thing about the day and thats the best I could do:D
Yesterday's was - she fell down a whole flight of stairs without breaking anything so now we know she probably doesn't have brittle bones like her mother (her own words, not mine).

Hi Npp I have read through your whole diary and you are to be commended for your efforts so far. I am so sorry to hear about your mums accident. That must be very scary both for you and for her.
Which brings me to your financial journey. You seem to be swinging between paying the money back via budgeting and selling your house off to pay it all back. Yet there are good reasons for not selling the house - the children coming back often is a good reason. So have you thought of the third option? This would be a Debt Management Plan managed either by Stepchange or Payplan. This is where you set up a plan to pay back the debt, but at a rate that you can afford. Generally interest is frozen so you only pay back what you owe now. But you are given set budgets for food, heating etc that I think would be more generous than what you are living on now. It would you allow you to build up a buffer fund (you can't access more credit once on the plan) to help with all those one off unexpected expenses.
Have a look on the step change website at their debt remedy tool. It might give you food for thought?
Good luck

Hi Elly & Chevalier. I will definitely look into those two. Life is stressful enough at the moment without adding to it by stressing about money.
They found a place for my mum last night in a care home nearby. Hopefully, she'll only be there for a couple of weeks till she gets back on her feet. She deteriorated a bit yesterday and got so she couldn't get out of bed without help and even though I know in my heart that this was the only option, I feel like the worst daughter ever at the moment. My brother and I agreed that this was the only option, but being a man, of course, it was left to me to tell her what was happening, which is why I'm sat here trying to pluck up the courage to go and see her.
I'm quite scatty at the best of times, but on 5 hours sleep since Tuesday I don't know if I'm coming or going. I went shopping for some bits for my mum this morning and left my purse at home! I'm so lucky to live where I do, I can't think of anywhere else where someone would tell you to take the shopping and come back the next day to pay?
Moneysaving wise, its been a good week - I haven't had time to spend money. Haven't had any sales since yesterday morning and could do with making about £50 between now and the 23rd.
I'd better go and tidy myself up and face the music. Wish me luck x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Good morning! Not a bad day here today with faint hazy sunshine at the moment. Its been an eventful few days and I'm almost too scared to say that things are starting to settle down just in case I'm tempting fate.
Spent the afternoon in the home yesterday and she looked a bit more like her old self, but popped down for an hour after tea and she was quite down. I suppose that's to be expected. I'm going to ask them today what time she takes her AD because at home, she takes it around lunchtime. If she was given it at breakfast yesterday, the effects would be starting to wear off by the evening.
I'll go shopping in a bit - and pay for yesterday's shopping
:o
Bro isn't coming up today so I'll spend the afternoon with mum. He's coming up tomorrow so I'll need to feed him at some point, meaning I need to pick up a few bits this morning.
I had two good sales last night which brought in another £20, so we're getting there slowly. The Social Worker tells me that we should be getting Attendance Allowance for mum so that should help with all the extras and to-ing and fro-ing.
I'd better get cracking and start with a shopping list!
I hope everyone else has a good day x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Hello, I hope everyone's having a good weekend.
Its a beautiful day here, perfect for walking in the mountains - its just a pity I'm a huge lazy bones who needs a huge kick in the whatsit to do anything today
Mum's getting better every day, she seems to be able to do a little more each time I visit. I've been going to see her every day after work which means the housework has been neglected. I don't get home till after 8pm by which time I really can't be bothered to start cleaning, or cooking if I'm honest!
The debtbusting hasn't been brilliant this month, but on the otherhand, I haven't added to it either. The sales are coming in slowly but I will definitely go overdrawn this month which is what I was hoping to avoid. Its payday in 4 days so the whole cycle can start all over again!
One thing that seems to be working is the food budget. I've got that down to a fine art. I check out the Al*i website to find out what the best buys are, work out a menu for the week then write a list (including prices) and stick to it religiously. Not rocket science, I know, but it really does work :A
I need to try and get some work done before I go to see mum so this calls for another list:-
1. Do the vaccuming.
2. Clean the bathroom.
3. Dust and polish.
4. Iron work clothes.
I've also had an email to say its free listing for a few days, so I really need to try and get a few more bits listed tonight if I can.
That's it really, I haven't accomplished much these last couple of weeks but at least mum is on the mend.1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
