Great afternoon at history with lots of laughter, surprising as we were studying Che Guevara, and Fidel Castro. But we are all such good friends and have been having our history group for the past 8 years, Our tutor is brilliant and its really a great end to the week.I got all my ironing done and put away this morning so tomorrow is my 'day off ' from housework, although I'll probably do some baking as the cake box and biscuit tins are getting a bit bare.No shopping to buy though , at least nothing thats essential. I'll probably start on DGS Henry's Liverpool football 'blankey' tomorrow
    Frugally onwards chums

Well it looks like I'm opening my purse tomorrow, but not for buying food...I'm on day 15 and still haven't the need to go shopping and only one week till payday :T :D

No, I forgot I'm at a birthday party tomorrow night in a pub so I'm going to need some spending money and I'll be hiding taxi money about my person just in case I miss the bus home.

Don't feel up to partying at the minute, work is hectic and I'm really starting to feel it, have a headache and a bit of a scratchy throat tonight, praying I'm not going down with something....I really could do without it!

well done pm2326 on keeping you purse firmly closed.:)
Mine has only been opened once this month, I am having bacon wrapped chilli chicken breast from the freezer tonight for dinner, with yogurt for pud. Definitely not going out anywhere today as I have a little bit of baking to do this morning then its feet up with a good book this afternoon and a large pot of coffee.Saturday is my day of pleasing myself what I do and I rarely see anyone which is so restful after all the rushing around I do the rest of the week :)

Plus the weather is looking decidedly grey and grim looking, so a nice day indoors in the warm with my feet up and a good book sounds my kind of day :)

Hope everyone has an equally great day ahead
    Cheers chums

I've been doing really well on the no clothes, shoes or accessories front and I'm pleased with my performance on my first month of the GC as well. However, I fell spectacularly off the wagon this weekend for my socialising budget and bought two records at the record fair as well : £15 socialising that should really have only been £5 and £16 completely unplanned on vinyl! I'm trying to be really strict on my budgets as I think I'm probably going to be out of work in a few months, so I'm getting a financial cushion together, but it's really only recently that I've been able to have a social life and buy things I like again (long story and completely OT), so I do have these little slips. I will have to give these two areas of spending some serious thought and just get some more blooming willpower! Feeling really grumpy with myself.:( Any advice?

Is there anyway that you can allow yourself some entertainment money each month? Doesn't need to be a lot but it'll mean you'll know you can buy a treat or go out and not beat yourself up about it later.

I think of it a bit like a diet, if I tell myself I can't eat something then that's all I'm going to think about and at some point I will blow the diet big style, the same goes with your treats, if you try to stop it all together you will likely cave and spend more than you intended whether it be on a night out or vinyls

DuranGirl - If I see something I would like to buy I don't buy it right away but walk by and make a mental note to purchase it in a few days time or when payday comes around. Nine times out of ten I will not go back for that item. This will be because of a change of mind that it was a 'spur of the moment' want rather than a need or - I simply cannot be bothered.

We all need treats in life though so don't beat yourself up too much.

Doing a lot better on this front since opening a regular saver account.

Not spending is going so well that I can't get shot of £28 in New Look gift cards!

Had to buy shower gel for the first time since Christmas. I was a little naughty as I spent the end of my birthday voucher from B00ts on some posh stuff that I like. Also a box and two bags de-cluttered. I will have to buy milk today.
