Hi all , going to watch this thread with interest & read later from the beginning. This sounds like just what I need. I posted on old school earlier , as I've totally fallen off the money saving wagon over the last year , I don't budget or save & all I do is spend ,spend, spend.
We want to move later this year and I also want to go part time when my hubby retires in about 2 years .
I really need to stop spending mindlessly and save. This should also help me o declutter & use up what we have before we put the house up for sale.

Odd thing just happened...I don't have broadband/wifi so use a sim in my iPad...I buy a 6GB card for £15 which lasts me up to 90 days....it ran out 5 minutes ago

How am I still online?? It told me I still had a add on to use, so re-registered the card and it gave me another 6GB for nothing

Feel like I should be doing this :j but I'm waiting for them to realise and boot me off :rotfl:

Hi shipmates, back from holidays which came in on budget. We had a great time and spent some wonderful quality time together as a family.

Came back to some veggies ready on my little patch. Had a few new potatoes with mint, radishes, rocket and the last few strawberry. Very exciting.

Now I'm back and caught up with the thread you have all inspired me to clear out the freezers (2 undercounter freezers) and food cupboards. I need to plan our meals and use up our stocks.

Also need to use up toiletries etc. How much do 3 people really need??

Hopefully this will reduce our spends for the rest of July.

Well done Jackyo on RFL. Hope you don't ache too much. I have done it 3 times in the past and its very satisfying & a brilliant cause.

    Hx
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

Well done Happy Home - I am hoping to do the same as am off on hols later this week! in prep for that I did the cheques for my bills and have put them in envelopes and stamped them. I am not going to post them till 24th - which allows them 6/8 days to get to destinations. Why? Cos - I dont see why they should have my monies early!!

I dont need any shopping food wise!!! Today ate up ham from freezer and am gonna use up the last of the new potatoes before I go away and the last egg.

Does anyone know if cabbage can be frozen??? And if so how? I have never tried it and I have 1/4 of a cabbage left - it doesnt really go with other stuffs I have to eat up!

Have got rid of another couple of small bottles of body lotion this week (on me!!) as well as finding another bottle of nail varnish that has gotten too hard to use - so it got thrown out! Could not do anything to sort garden out as it was raining most of today!
    Frugally forward tomorrow

Not sure but I'm still here :D

Hoping for a good day today, I'm volunteering on a garden project at a local hospice, not sure what it involves but I'm excited :j even if it is damp and muggy outside this morning!

My employer gives us 2 days a year paid volunteer leave so I get to help out a good cause without worrying about losing a day's pay...win win!

    :) Morning all.

Lynplatinum, cabbage can be frozen. Shred with a knife, and bag & freeze. Don't chuck it in whole.

I'm busily picking and freezing allotment produce. Frustratingly, the only freezer I have room for is a tabletop model, but I work it hard. Have been open-freezing broad beans and blackcurrants on trays (not mixed together, I hasten to add :p) and then collecting them up into plastic bags and, inc the case of the broad beans, an ice-cream tub.

I've barely opened my purse in days as have been using what I have, eating off the allotment and the cupboards and amusing myself in low-cost ways with friends and library books (and t'internet, of course).

July will be a spendy month due to new glasses and dental work, but there won't be being money frittered away on nonsense which I'd only have to declutter later on.

Keep up the good work, troops!

GQ I too freeze cabbage, as living alone I only need a handful at a time so a whole cabbage is a lot to get through :). Very little I don't freeze really as I hate waste if I can help it.

I have forked out a fairly hefty chunk of money this month for DGS Bens student house which he moves into this week. His grant doesn't arrive until mid-September so I am bank-rolling him with his rent until then. Although the year is only 30 odd weeks he has to sign up for a year at a time for their student house. Landlords aren't keen on having only 30 weeks rent out of 52 :) Don't blame them really, but at least its cheaper than Halls. There are six of them sharing this house in Norwich and its meant that his rent is down to £285 per month rather than almost £400 for Halls. So it will save him cash in the long run.He is up there at the moment with his G/F sorting stuff out, then I think they are going off camping somewhere for a few days.
He starts his second year in September, and I'm so pleased at how well he has settled in up there.

NSD today and I'm at DDs house for dinner tonight, which will be nice.
Hope you all have a great day,The RFL fund has risen to £554.00 as I had some donations from my book club yesterday bless them Thanks chums to those who have donated I think your all amazing folk
