Ahoy there! I haven't jumped ship, just thought the mmm thread meets my need for chatting about all and sundry.
Thanks suki.got a call earlier to say I am now on the afternoon list so no need to be there 'till 4:30.Easier really as a friend was having to take me at 6:30 am to be there on time. That lawnmower still makes me chuckle.
It's so nice to hear about new jobs and positive things, makes a difference that the weather is better.Well actually it has snowed, sleeted and hailed here all day and this evening was glorious sunshine.
Done the final shop of the month and food was £190 and some pence.Ok considering it's a long month.
Ah yes I finished the quilt. When DD1 is here and not fraught due to end of uni, placement, job interview, exams and disertation I will get her to post a pic and of the wardrobe too.Don't get excited the doing of was far greater than the finished product.Moaning about them here helped me get on with them.My next epic will be a cross stitch of the night before christmas poem with some mice in bed with stockings hung up.I am Mrs christmas, love everything about it,and buy bits all year so it isn't a shock in December.

Ahoy there shipmates
Vulpix - your night before Christmas cross stitch poem sounds lovely :-) that and the Easter poem about the donkey are my two favourite poems with a vaguely Christian theme. (Im not v religious btw but these poems make me feel all cosy)
Arthritic Old Thing - hope you feel better soon - it was amazing when I broke my leg last year and was house bound - just how much I didnt spend LOL
Glad to read on many folks posts that its snowing/sleeting! No, Im not being mean and nasty - it just that I am sat here with a blanket round me + a jumper on + a cardigan on + a warmed up wheatbag!!! I thought that either a) I have caught the flu/cold lurgy going round here OR b) the weather had turned colder again. A bit relieved if its just turned colder tbh as this is my busy time of the year work wise and I cant afford to be ill! LOL
Anyone heard form Slowdown?? I m a bit worried by now - thort she might have bin on Easter hols but still no word. Hope shes OK ????
Safe sailing folksAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Morning chums, diet nurse this morning ,she's so nice bless her and I quite enjoy seeing her once a fortnight.
We came second last night in the pub quiz and I came home with a bottle of plonk for our stash. I save any wine up until there is enough for all the team to have a bottle each and then we share it out. Mine usually gets saved until Christmasas living alone it would take me quite a while to drink a bottle on my own and I am more of a social drinker anyway.
No shopping to buy today, and only today and tomorrow then a new month will start again.I am pleased that this month I have managed to go only three times for food shopping and definitely only bought what I really needed so left over loot will go into the holiday treat fund
I promised one of my DGS I would make him a victoria sponge cake as he is doing his french oral GCSE exam this morning and its his favourite so when I come back from the surgery I shall be doing that.
Hope you all have a frugal day
Cheers chums

Hi everyone
Sorry I have not been on board ship for a bit!! I suffer with Menieres Disease and have had several long bouts of vertigo lately and now wobbling all over the place!!! Having an operation on Saturday so hoping that will improve things and get me back to posting on a more regular basis like I did before the Menieres flared up again!!! Will try and go back and catch up with all the news on ship before I go in on Saturday and whilst recovering at home over the next couple of weeks!!
Little Langley is still doing ok and mixing in very well!!! We did loose one of our other rescue hens a couple of weeks ago. She was rather frail and looking old even though she was only just over 3 years old, bless her. Just found her one morning when we went to let them all out. Went in her sleep which was nicer for her!!! Bless her again!!!
Will catch up with you all soon!!!! I hope you understand why I have not been posting at all!! Just a difficult time to deal with for myself and my hubby!!!
Have a lovely day everyone whatever you are doing!!!

Hi I'm still reading and lurking. I have now come to the stage where I don't have to hold too tightly to my purse strings. So nowadays I'm cutting some slack and buying things. I have enough savings etc and before this thread started I was a NBI person. But now I think I need to ease up and enjoy the fact that after 7 years of cutting back I can now not have to worry about my bills.
First on my list is a weekend away with friends....0 -
Loving reading the thread, keeping me motivated.
Thanks0 -
Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well!
We've been doing well with many no spend days this month. Next month is going to be a bit tricky as I have to live on my wage for 5 weeks rather than 4 due to the way the pay days work out which should be interesting.
We've also downgraded brands to value on a few things - thought it would be worth a try and on certain products it's worked well (inc. mouthwash, biscuits, shaving foam etc).
I'm still desperate to have a hair cut - it's been nearly a year now but as I've got a little extra money coming in from my second job, I might have to bite to bullet and finally get it done!
Currently enjoying a free activity - watching a group on 3 fox cubs play fighting in the garden!0 -
Morning all, both diet nurse and I are pleased as I have lost exactly one kilo(just over 2lbs in proper money
:):))so roll on the summer when I will a little less baggage to haul around
DGS Jack bless him was a bit upset as he is sure he 'fluffed' his exam yesterday and texted me afterwards worrying about it. I sent him several 'there, there' soothing texts and told him when he is a billionaire software inventor he will be able to afford to pay someone to speak it for him:):) I.T. is really the thing that he's keen on and want to do it at Uni when he's old enough.Give his due he is amazingly clever with computers.Still he got a nice cake to cheer him up.
No shopping at all to buy today so my food budget has produced £15.62 of left over lolly which goes into the holiday treat money tomorrow:):) Only 15 more weeks to go until we are off on our annual jaunt to the Isle of Wight, hopefully the weather will cheer up a bit.
A friend and I were talking yesterday and reminicing about this you never see anymore from our younger days .Does anyone remember the penny bars of chocolate from a machine on the railway stations, or the other machine that you could print your name out on a long thin metal strip. Can't even remember what we did with them afterwards, or why we would want a long thin silver strip of aluminium with your name punched out on it ???.railways stations seemed to be a fund of machines that you could buy thing for if you managed to relieve your parents of a few coppers:):) perhaps that was the idea to keep you quiet
ah well time for some coffee I think to kick start me for the day
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing
