I,m now paying just under £17 for unlimited BB, line rental and free weekend calls - they phoned me today to try and get me back to TV, but I refused before they could tempt me :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • That's good islandmaid. I'm going to have to sort this out before my offer runs out. I've got until June but just begrudged paying for repeats and a landline phone I don't even plug in.

    Evening shipmates:D

No spending just lots of housesparkling for clients. I cleaned for a good chum this afternoon and she's given me a huge bag of chilli powder [she found she had two] and a couple of veggie cookery mags:j
Knitting continues apace. Need to get some toy stuffing for my gargoyle but had the brainwave of buying a soft toy at this week's jumble when I help set up to get some that way. Recycling:T Still need to get some 2mm needles- have tried freecycle and a lady has kindly offered to lend me some when she gets back from her hols.

    Hi all.... Quick question -
For those who have cut there TV packages with the companies they have. Do you still have broadband and how much is that and is it with a landline.
The reason I'm asking is I have a all-in-one package which was reduced quite a bit by the company to keep my custom. I have 5months left and would consider no package if I could find either something that records for free and broadband without a landline... If there's such a thing.

Im with plusnet, I dont have a tv but I pay around 26 quid a month for broadband and Ive been really happy with the service

It was lower than that for the first year plus I got 70 quid cashback through quidco
  • I get line rental and free evening and weekend calls. Im really impressed with them, was with talk talk before (awful) but any time theres been any small issue, its been sorted within a day.

Imdoingitforme, you need a land line to receive BB unless you are on cable. Ie Virgin

7ww I switched to sim only a year ago and am now down to £8 a month. I done it over the phone, no hassles. Hubby changed his as well this year, he went into the shop and once again they were more then happy to change him from £45 down to £11. So don't waste anymore time and get it sorted.

Not a good day at all for me. Had a long awaited dental appointment this morning for a root canal. At the appointment he also discussed another tooth as no longer viable so I said to pull it ( I've had an infection on it since October which has resulted in me losing half a stone as not been able to eat properly). So he tried, the tooth broke, even with 6 ampules of local I could feel everything ( prolly the infection stopping me getting numb). So after 45 mins we admitted defeat and I'm awaiting surgical removal ASAP I look like I've gone a few rounds with Mohammed Ali and feel pants :) Dosed to the eyeballs on pain killers and antibiotics

Now that's not so bad but mother has decided that " there's no food in the house" and has decided her and hubby will do a shop tomorrow :( This will result in a fridge full of food that won't get eaten ( think ready meals and processed carp). Where as I have a freezer full of food which only needs cooking from scratch which she can't cope with This leads to hubby moaning that dinner is carp and complaining about food waste and me not being able to eat full stop as my stomach just can no longer cope with processed food. So I'm waiting till she hits the nest and I'm going to brave the snow and root around in the freezer for tomorrow's dinner lol. Things I have to do to keep the peace.......and to keep food waste down and money in my purse

Hubby has been very industrious the past couple of days and refurbished a garden bench that belonged to his late mother. Taken apart, the slats all sanded down and dried and the iron work given a new coat of hammerite. Just needing to have the teak oil applied and it will last another lifetime

He's also dismantled the garden shed which was beyond repair and is digging out the ground for the foundations of a new shed. We need a much larger one as mum has been paying for storage for her shop. The old shed will be turned into kindling so that will save us a few quid a month for the next couple of winters

I'm not sure how much we are saving, it's not much as we have been paring back for a good while and I don't keep records. All I know is we are only spending what I earn, and not dipping into our savings. I have had money boxes on the go which we save in all year to pay the cars and house insurances. We won't have saved all of it this year because I wasn't working much at all last year , but should have at least half. The house insurance was a godsend this past year, first ever time we had to claim - Twice:eek: I'm dreading this years renewal quote

Anyways I'm off to raid the freezer. All those that need hugs and well wishes, I send them (((((hugs )))). Those of you that are suffering bad weather, keep warm and stay safe

  • 7ww ATM I'm paying £7 on a sim only contract. 200 mins, 5000texts and 500mb data
Thanks purpleshoes ATM I'm paying £30 for basic TV package, unlimited BB, line rental and free evening and weekend calls.
I was thinking of switching to virgin if I could get that cheaper (don't need a landline you see).
  • Hi chums came 6th in the pub quiz out of 12 teams, but we go for the enjoyment, not really the winning, (its only a bottle of plonk anyway) the supper was a cheesey jacket spud which was lovely so the whole evening cost me £2.00 which comes from my 'entertainment budget' which is per month £20.00 history club and £8.00 quiz night.rest of my entertainment is from T.V. books or freebie swimming at the local baths as I am somewhat over the age of retirement :):):) I spend £18.00 per year on my U3A subs which gives me a choice of over 40 different interesting classes to join if I want to.I go to a knitting club (free) and a book club (also free) and a coffee morning with coffee paid for with my Dobbies vouchers of which I get 24 per year well worth it as the coffees are about £3.00 eash and the Dobbies membership is about £10.00 per year.
    Win-win I think :):)
Made a large lasagne for tomorrow nights dinner and left over sauce made two smaller ones to go into the freezer.I'll probably have left overs from tomorrow nights one anyway as there is only my DGD and I eating it :)
sorted out some of my food cupboard this morning and found a very large 2 kg unopened bag of red lentils BBD Jan 2015 !!! what on earth am I going to do with all of these I won't eat my way through them in a fortnight !!! any ideas would be welcome I'm not too fussed about the date as I tend to ignore dates if I can.
Right off to the hammock to finish off my Peter James detective novel.
Night night God bless all here

re waitrose don't foget to get your waitrose loyalty card anything over a £5.00 spend will get you a free paper of choice and a cup of coffee for free.I went to the one at Maidstone before Christmas and it was a joy to shop there and not be bombarded with cheesy songs at full volume, plus the staff really do try to help you.lots of unexpected bargains as well.My eldest Dd says that mid afternoon on Sundays are a good time at that branch for YS and the reductions are pretty good ones as well.

I used to be with virgin, changed because I used to come home too often to find no tv, no internet and no bloody broadband service.

BT were fine but too expensive. Talk talk were awful, one day my wifi disappeared and they said I caused it, lmao and Id have to pay for an engineer to see what I had done:rotfl:

Changed to plusnet and Ive had really good service ever since, would totally recommend them to anyone looking for cheap internet who is paying too much just now.
  • Oh, I spent 3 pounds and 7 pence today and went nowhere near a supermarket
